4runner TRD Pro

I'd love to see some hard numbers as to how many Pro's were built for each production year and the color break down by year.....

Me too, I spent some time looking for this info, I really doubt this is something Toyota lets out. I suspect production numbers are higher than people expect. AFAIK they ramp manufacturing up and down by demand. If you look at the yearly sales on Wikipedia, 2009 had a paltry 19,675 units sold. My year 2013 had ~51,000 units sold. Last year 2016 had over ~110,000 units sold.

So based off those numbers any model/color 2009, more so a Trail Edition w/ 4.7 L 2UZ-FE with VVT-i V8, is likely far more "rare" than any TRDP (I say that because some folks seem to be oddly obsessed with the perceived rarity of any particular color/trim)

Just a little history lesson , you could not get the V8 in the trail edition.
Also note V8's were full-time four-wheel-drive.

one small difference on the exterior is that they added the TRD Pro badge to the lift gate.

I have both 16 and 17. Besides the lift gate, the headrests in the 17 have trd stiching and the center by shifter is a little bit different color design. The seats in the 17 feel a lot more comfortable also. That's all i have noticed.

See that's how rare it is ...having never owned one, admittedly my knowledge of 4th gens is obviously quite limited. Thanks for the history tidbit

I have seen quite a few here, all colors, all years. It might be that SLC is a small city and there are a lot of 4runners here overall. IIRC the original press release for the TRDP said they were only producing 3400.

I ordered my Cement Pro on March 20th and I've heard nothing since. My dealer just texted me this morning letting me know that it has shown up on the pipeline and will be here by mid June at the latest. This wait is killing me but I know it's going to be worth it.

Third Time's A Charm

After waiting since November, I finally have my 2017 white TRD Pro. I picked it up on Saturday in El Paso and drove back to San Antonio on Sunday.

This is the 3rd vehicle that was allocated for me. The first one arrived in January and had every option under the sun, I said no thank you. The second one arrived in Houston about 3 weeks ago and was caught in a hailstorm an hour outside El Paso. This one arrived at the dealership on Thursday night. It was quite the ordeal, but the dealership was kind enough to sell me the 4Runner at invoice +$500 and give me a good number on my trade (2017 JKU Hard Rock).

Texas... read his previous posts and see that he traded in a pretty nice vehicle. He only paid sales tax on the difference between the purchase price and his trade-in.

That is correct, I only paid tax on the sales difference.

In all honesty, this has been a hellacious journey to the 4Runner. In March 2015, I bought a Power Wagon Laramie. All told, it spent almost 8 months in the shop between November 2015 and October 2016 due to death wobble, leaking rear glass, and a leaking brake light. After lawyering up, FCA and I finally came to an understanding and they bought the Power Wagon back. In exchange, I had to purchase another FCA vehicle. Wranglers are pretty much the only ones that hold their value so I ordered a JKUR Hard Rock.

I ended up losing about $3k on the Power Wagon -> Wrangler deal and another $3k on the Wrangler -> TRD Pro deal. It could have been much, much worse and I'm just happy that this journey has come to an end. On the bright side, I've owned 3 brand new vehicles in a little over 2 years....which will probably never happen again in my lifetime.

I thought mine was interesting... my duramax blew a head gasket at 50k. Guess how they fix a head gasket on a 2500 duramax? They lift the frickin body off! When asked them to fix both sides they said GM wouldn't do it and I'm not including all the drama to get to the point of the diagnosis . Good news though....Bam!!!

Nice, congratulations! Sorry to hear about your truck. My problems started at 12k miles. Sad that it seems so many new HD trucks have issues. I have to say that the best part of my experience was taking the dealership's service manager and his regional boss for a ride on a bumpy road at 65mph to induce death wobble. The regional service manager turned a lovely pale yellow as I repeated it several times.

I have the same color. We had to put down a deposit in last October and waited almost 7 months to get ours...supposedly the last of this year's allotment for this dealer. We paid sticker, a first for us. but given the 12 or so poor souls still on the wait list...oh well.

I originally ordered the dark grey to match our GX, only to be told they don't make it in that color for '17. The super white turned out to be much much better looking in person. I really dig the Storm Trooper face. The only gripe i have is the two big holes in the front bumper for the front plate. I had to figure out a way to plug those.

So far we've been babying it. Only to drop off and pick up kids. I will take it to work once the new car smell is gone. The ride is supple but better than my GX460...what a surprise! I'm used to the body roll from years driving a Jeep with 6" of lift and 35" tires. Can't wait to take it to the desert.

so my buddy just picked up a 16 quicksand last night, and for some reason his brake pedal keeps vibrating like as if abs is kicking in, but it only does it every few times he hits the brake? my 17 doesn't do this just strange anyone else have this issue? no abs light or anything, his truck only has 8k miles on it too?

I have been looking for a cement for a while. Finally have a line in ordering one. I'm not really into the all weather mats but one dealer told me that it doesn't come stock with carpet floor mats. I assumed it would. Is this true? I would definitely want floor mats but in SoCal I won't really need the full rubberized ones. Thanks in advance!
