:moon: only thing cool about the PROs are the colors. Almost bought a Quicksand myself, just wasn’t willing to pay the Southern California mark up.

Here's the thing for me: I like all the stuff the Pro has, including the cosmetics. If the Pro didn't exist, I would have bought a TRD ORP and added the same kinds of mods that the Pro has stock. And I could have still done that and saved a little money.
But I saved the time and hassle of going through that modding (which for me overcomes the price difference by itself), and I got a Pro VIN out of the deal. That means insurance values the truck as a Pro if anything bad happens, and the eventual buyer will pay Pro pricing. Nothing at all wrong with the ORP, but the Pro was actually a value proposition for me. I do agree 100% about not lining dealers' pockets by paying markup.

Man I know it's wrong to feel envious but looking at Southern California/San Francisco/Seattle automotive and real estate prices makes me feel so depressed.

Here’s the thing about the Pro. It’s only going to be real cool, desirable, and overpriced until the next gen 4runner comes out. Then prices will come back to earth and those that overpaid are going to lose money. Lots of money in some cases.
Think about it, would you pay a premium price for a 15 Tacoma Pro right now? Probably not, you are going to want the new model. The gen 3 taco, even a lesser model is more desirable than an old previous gen Pro.
As cool as a Pro is, it’s s terrible Investment. Unless you sell while they are hot!

A dealer in the Houston dealer tried to sell me someone’s ordered Pro for a 5k mark up. I walked. Found one at another dealer for msrp.
That all depends if the 6th gens stay with what 4Runners are designed to do. If Toyota does what everyone else is doing and makes them crossoverish then the Pro's prices will go even higher. It is all currently speculation so who knows what will happen.

Only time will tell what they’ll sell for, I think a dealer will give you more on it as a trade in than any private buyer will be willing to pay.
Has anyone actually said they have bought a Pro as an investment? Pretty sure that is fake news. I went Pro because I like the ride and the color - it rides much nicer than a non-Pro. And sure, you can add an aftermarket suspension - but to me that is a PITA. It's also problematic. Lots of threads about squeaks, clunks, poor after sale support etc.
Not sure where all the Pro hate comes from - all I've seen is a group of people enthusiastic about their trucks. I paid well over MSRP for mine, that's the going rate for one. Something is 'worth' what someone is willing to pay :amen:

When I said investment I meant it as something you spent money on, not in terms of say a real estate investment.
For the record, I think the Pro is awesome. It’s just not for me, and I think prices/value on them are a bubble that will burst at some point. They are simply not worth what some dealers are getting for them. But like I said, they are awesome.

One of the benefits of getting a Pro, is you get all the extra bits up front and paying it off via your auto loan. I really wanted a Pro, but my local dealer said factory order only, 4-6 month wait for a 2018, which meant I'd be paying full price for a 2018 right around the time when 2019s are hitting the lot. They happened to have a lightly used 2018 TRD Off-Road on the lot, so I decided to buy that instead. I've already spent about $5000CAD ordering bits to make it look like a Pro without the cost of labour on some of it factored in. Then there's also the warranty issue.
