Last night my 4Runner met up with a tree when trying to avoid an oncoming car that was in my lane.
It could have been much worse, the tree was the much better option. I was the only occupant and had no injuries.
Cell phone pics
Damage guesstimate (it was dark and hard to see): front bumper, front passenger fender/wheel well into the engine compartment (although no damage under the hood). Passenger front door won't open. Hood is bent. The A Pillar is dented pretty good but hopefully is just on the surface. Windshield is cracked. Broken headlight and fog light. Front passenger wheel is damaged somehow, guessing a broken tie rod. Scratches and dents down the entire passenger side.
Waiting on claims adjuster now to see what they say.
Sadly I was just getting into my build, had just installed a ToyTec 3" lift, Front Runner Rack. Just got her back from the dealer on Tuesday for new plugs, coils and valve cover gaskets. My BudBuilt 5 piece kit and rear diff skid arrives this Friday and was going to be my weekend project.
I was pretty impressed with how the 4Runner fared against a tree at 40mph. I expected the damage to be much worse. The Front Runner roof rack also took a good smack from the tree and seems to only be scuffed.
