I'd be interested on hearing what affect the tuning has on your MPGs as well?

Could you give some more detail on the transmission stuff?

There are only about 4 tables/maps that they needed to change to tune this thing. 1 of them being the torque tables on the transmission. The tuner told me these things cut 2 cylinders in between shifts to help smooth it out while the trans is shifting between gears. That hasnt changed, however the trans doesn't need to slip as long between shifts creating a quicker/faster shift interval. Its not like night and day, but after owning the truck for a few years its definitely a nice touch.

I am curious myself, from having just the headers and y-pipe done the mpg's definitely went up. Now ive got 93 in there and I cant stay out of the throttle so it might take some time to figure out lol

That's pretty cool! Hopefully it holds... I know that in the Lexus world people have been messing with tuners and finding that over time the Toyota/Lexus ECU "learns" its way back to stock.

I stopped following it, but there were a few tuners that were working on it and they were dropping one by one after making no progress in "long" term tests.

With the software they used for this they modified a few maps and what is loaded/written to the ECU is what it would deem as "stock." There would be no going back to stock in this case.

Resurrecting an old thread. But I am looking for an end user tuning option for my 07 SR5. The pedal commander isn’t doing it for me lol. Its kinda a gimmick imo. I know Bully Dog has solutions for the 1grfe in the Taco and Im wondering why they dont have an option for the 1grfe in the 4runner. Any one know of anything??

I think URD sells their ECU as a kit for the 4.0L V6 without the supercharger. Gadget would be able to comment.

However, my conversations with him illustrate that it is not "tunable", per se, in that only URD is able to make changes to the ECU. However, like the stock ECU, it learns and adapts to changing conditions.
