4runner turns over but wont start ? ?

hey guys, got a weird problem with my 4runner i cant seem to figure out. when i go out to crank the car it will turn over but doesnt start, if i take the key out and put it back in, then it will fire right up. sounds like a security problem to me . anybody here ever experienced this problem on their 4runner ? ( 99 limited V6 155k )

Mine does this after I have driven. It starts just fine when cold.

I just replaced the battery to no avail. It needed replacing anyway.
I have a new set of sparkplugs to put in. I hope this is the cure.

Ever been wrecked or broken into? I know that sometimes the computer can be stupid on its security and such. My best suggestion is when turning it over before the key removal is to check to see if fuel pump is pumping you got spark and of course air....hehe.

Possible Ignition coils?

i think i know whats causing this, when i remove the key it makes a pop sound when the key is removed, if the key comes out without the pop sound the car wont start at next asking, seems weird to me !

a little update on my 4r. if the 4r doesn't start, all i have to do is take the key out and put it right back in and it starts right up, anyone here ever had this problem? sounds like something in the ignition switch to me !

How many times do you try to start it before pulling the key out?

i usually just try to crank it 1 time, then i take the key out, put it back in, then it cranks right up

Mine and atleast one other persons 4runner on this site have success with a second try without removing the key. Mine usually turns over the first time but it takes 3 or 4 seconds and on a few occasions it has taken longer. I'm thinking it may be my fuel pump at this point but I'm not certain.
