You're an idiot. :nono:
Name calling is a last resort when you know you've lost an argument. It's called Ad Hominem.
If you'd take an IFS over a solid axle then you obviously don't know jack crap about rock crawling and now you have to back peddle to try not to look stupid. :trophy:
Where did I say I would take an IFS over a solid axle? I said an IFS can be switched, but a unibody can't. You have to make up things to back up your statements.
Umm....did you miss the part about the solid axle? That was a pretty damn good reason, but you failed to comprehend it.
Neither of the vehicles we are talking about have solid front axles. But you keep trying to switch to earlier models of the GC to try to make a point that doesn't support the original claim you made. If we are comparing other years, there are solid axle 4runners also.
Owned?? Wow, how old are you?
Again, using Ad Hominem to try to misdirect attention to try to win an argument, pathetic.
I don't remember the guy talking about axle swaps to make one vehicle better than the other. :bash:
You asked a specific (off topic) question about an IFS 4runner compared to a solid axle GC (not an '08 against an '08 like you keep switching back and forth between) and I answered it. You are comparing 2 vehicles from different eras, but you try to bash me for answering your question.
And you say I have bad reading comprehension??? Hahaha, that's rich.
Yes, yes it is.
I've given one, but besides your frame argument you haven't given any as to why you say the 4Runner is better, but you claim to have proven beyond a reasonable doubt that it is.
Up until now, a solid axle was the reason you gave which they don't have in the years we are comparing. We are talking about '08s, right? Or does that only apply to your arguments when it works out for you? Body-on-frame construction was the reason I gave, because it's an integral part of a rock crawler. Axles and all that other stuff can be switched, but not the fact it's a unibody. It will be that way forever and it makes for a bad platform to make a crawler out of. Just because people do it doesn't mean it's good.
I stated that I would pick the Grand Cherokee if it's going to be mostly for off-road. You acted like it's unheard of to take a Grand Cherokee off-road or on the rocks. I proved you wrong. You went on to compare other UNRELATED vehicles.
No, you stated..
"If I was looking for an off-road only [not mostly like you changed it to above], rock crawler type vehicle I'd go with the GC. Anything else I'd go with the 4Runner."
You haven't proved a thing. You just name call when you get flustered. I didn't "act" anything, I stated facts that set the 4runner apart from the GC as a crawler.
You are comparing unrealted vehicles. I said: "You can take a 4runner from any gen and make it into a great crawler. This includes the 4th gens which is what we are comparing.
I stated the solid axle on the Cherokee would be my MAIN reason for picking it.
Again, you are switching to an earlier model of GC and comparing it to a later model 4runner. There are solid axle 4runners too, but you're purposely not comparing those to the early GCs. But since you took us there.. they both have solid axles in the early models, but the body-on-frame construction of the 4runner trumps the GC as a crawler.
The only thing you did was bash the Grand Cherokee for having a unibody. I read all of your posts and I can't find one single thing you mentioned as a positive about the 4Runner other than the frame, but you act like you've proven beyond a reasonable doubt that you're choice is better. :nono:
Well, the body-on-frame is a big issue. It's what sets the 2 vehicles apart. The rest is pretty comparable so I didn't mention all the items that are basically equal.
The Grand Cherokee is priced cheaper
Right, because the quality and reliability aren't there like a 4runner (which I mentioned on the 1st page before you joined the discussion).
The Grand Cherokee has a solid front axle
So does the 4runner, but we're not comparing the older models.
The Grand Cherokee has more power
Not that that's a big issue for crawling, plenty of crawlers have 4 bangers and do just fine. Plus we have superchargers available and the engines in the 4th gens (since that's what we're comparing) aren't weak by any means. Many 4th gens have a V8 also.
The Grand Cherokee has a higher crawl ratio
You mean a lower crawl ratio? LOL. The higher the #s, the lower the ratio. You are showing your knowledge.
Do those outweigh a frame and 10xs better reliability for you?
