4Runner vs FJ Cruiser

I still have both and drive them about equally. Made a few changes to the FJ.

Richocet aluminum skid plates, lifted with Radflo 2.5" coilovers and Radflo rear shocks/springs, new Total Chaos UCAs, new Metal Tech lower links. Also sent the rock rings out for powder-coating black.

One sweet looking FJ. Did a test drive on this TT a few months ago. Loved it but the wind noise really killed it for me. The steering was sloppy as hell also. Started looking at the 4Runner and now I want the Trail version! Not sure if I'll get the 14 model, that nose will take some getting used too. Interior changes look great. Enjoy that beauty!

Get the '13 Trail Edition!!! I love my '12 T4R TE. I wouldn't even buy the 14 if it was with your money.

Oh come on, it's not that bad. I love the interior changes, it's just the nose job I'm not keen on. Well I don't look at that very often, so I'm good. Hoping too buy by the end of the year, unless I hear rumors on a souped-up Trail Teams 4Runner

Never had an issue with sloppy steering. Quite the contrary. Runs on rails now with the Radflo coilovers and Total Chaos UCAs. No body roll at all and glued to the road. Definitely not a vehicle for all tastes and it has its quirks, but I am loving it.

I am not some sort of 4Runner fan boy, but the new trail edition is really cool looking. I thought the 4Runner was really ugly after they did away with the second gen, and I am still not really into the new 4Runners, but the Trail version fixes everything that is ugly about them lol.

Here is my wifes 07 4runner
and in the background is my 07 fj. The 4runner has always been my favorite but the Fj comes in second to me. When we go to colorado next year the 4runner will be the one to go cause of all the windows and sunroof to see everything.

Nice ride, I too am in Boise, hope to see it in person one of these days.

had a 14 FJ - tooo many blind spots, but they held their value - traded it for a 16 Tundra and got more than what I paid for it - at a dealership

traded my 2011 for 18 4R

after owning my fj for 5 years and enjoying it off road on the rocks and beach. I was surfing around and pulled the trigger on a 2018 trd-off road runner.
I love the crawl control feature and its nice having 4 doors and a sliding back window .. 4 doors really come in handy with kids. Hopefully someday the FJ will be back in production. I had 115 k miles on it and figured id trade it in when resale is high instead of waiting years when mileage is high and not get as much for it.

Just recently did the same. After 7 years (88K miles) with the beloved 11 FJ, traded her in for an 18 TRD ORP. Love the huge sliding rear window. Still feel some similarities in the ride. FJ was unique and I hope its back one day. More and more everyday though loving the 4R. Can't wait for a nice long drive and some adventure time this summer.

Have a 2010 FJ TT...

Got rid of a Ram 1500 for a '17 4Runner TRD/OR Premium last February...

Love the bonuses the 4Runner has over the FJ- more room, that great rear window (dog loves it), rear seat comfort for the two teens, MUCH better steering wheel, was looking forward to slowly building it over time...

I still give the FJ the edge in overall fun factor (it's my DD and weekend rig), maneuverability (for me, it's easier to "flick" around traffic, and I can bust a u-turn on a narrow street without touching curb), and trail performance (again, for me and my abilities)...

and Toyota's Entune (first experienced in my 4Runner)?...WORST FACTORY SYSTEM ON THE PLANET...

Just recently had to make a decision to go back to a pickup, and the 4Runner lost. I just can't give up my little FJ mini-tank (it's family now), but if I ever do, I'll jump into another 4Runner.
