You can use FJ springs. Not struts / shocks.

Rear Shocks
Can someone advise the correct Bilstein part number for rear shocks with the FJ Cruiser coils. I am assuming the 5100's for a 0-2" lift.
Also, anyone else have anything definitive about the 2010+ coils and lift amounts? I am referring to the red/white rears and purple/orange and purple/grey fronts. I have been getting mixed reviews about the results with the latter coils.

So I've got my '07 coils all ready to roll. Just trying to nail down a set of struts (I'll replace the shocks when I have more $ but they're good for now only 120k on them). Found a steal of a deal on bilstein 4600 hds (#24-187244). My question is has anyone run this set up? Will it work or will only the adjustable 5100s work? I assume since guys are running kyb it will work. Curious to hear results... thanks, you guys are great!

I am in the same boat as you. I have 4600 HDs currently installed on my rig. I have looked through a number of Toyota forums and have not found anybody running this setup. I really want the FJC coils over the 99 talls. I would be forever grateful if somebody was able to confirm that 3rd Gen 4600 HDs worked with FJC coils.

Believe it or not, I'm still running the factory Tokico shocks in the rear...made it through Moab with them without issue. When I finally buy new shocks (soon hopefully), I'm planning on running the Bilstein HDs for 3rd Gen 4Runner...basically a stock replacement. The Bilstein provides a tiny bit more travel than the Tokico, and I figure this should be fine given the trouble-free experience I've had with the Tokicos.
Can't speak for anything but the front struts I'm currently running (see first post). Love the ride and dampening they provide...I also appreciate the height adjustability in the event I change things up in the future.

The Bilstein 4600's are specifically called out for 'no lift' stock applications. Of course, the '99 talls fit in the 'no lift' category since they are still a 'stock height' spring. If the FJC coils give something like 1.5" lift, you are probably fine running them even through you are technically lifted (only 0.5" above '99 talls). They shocks might be a bit soft, since the FJC coils are stiffer.
If you already have the 4600's, go ahead with just the springs. You may find you want to do the shocks later. If you are buying new shocks too, I would suggest considering the 4Runner specific 5100's over the 4600 once you go above stock height...

I have 4600 HDs currently installed in the front and rear. My rig is quickly approaching 98k and does not sag unless loaded. I have played around with the idea of an Air Lift kit but I think that new FJ Coils are the best option. The coils that I am looking at are Orange on top of Yellow and Yellow on top of Grey.
Do you think that I'll see closer to 2 inches of lift since I have a 2001 (I've read that we got the lowest ride height)?

Measure your hub center to fender on all corners to get an idea of your current ride height. Around 20" is the 'normal' height that is used for comparison most of the time... (my '99 2WD was just over 20" all around before adding the 4WD components)

I have been collecting parts for about a year. I ended up with 2017 4runner front springs from an off road/trail model and 2013 rear springs from an FJ with 3rd Gen 4runner Brillstein's on all corners. The Fronts are set on the bottom for zero lift. The tires are 265/70-17 Cooper SRX because I spend most of my time on paved roads. I ended up with 1.75" +/- in the front and right at 2" +/- in the rear. I had 4 used Michelin 265/70-17 and 3 80lb bags of concrete in the back and the rear dropped 1/2-3/4 of an inch when loaded.

I decided to run the FJs with the 3rd Gen specific 5100s and sold my HDs. They are nice, especially on washboards! I have since added an Airlift 1000 kit. I am pretty sure that the FJ coils would pair well with the HDs though.

Rear End Link Replacement
Has anybody replaced their rear sway bar end links since after putting the FJ coils in? The part # is 4883035020. I am looking to replace mine and was wondering if I have to upgrade to longer end links such as the 2nd gens because of the mild lift.
I am putting together a front and rear suspension refresh parts list and want to get it right the first time.

5th gen shocks
Does anyone think that some 5th gen rear shocks would fit in with the FJC coils in the back? I have someone local selling the shocks on the cheepcheep. I know they are obviously longer but will the slight lift from the FJC coils be enough to handle that extra length?

Sorry if this is a repeat question but did you put the FJ front coils on the Bilstein Tundra shocks? or did you get the Tundra coils with the shocks?
