4Runner vs new bronco

I have seen online instances of the new Bronco's engine just shutting off on the road. Looks likes a complete engine F up. If Toyota made the Bronco I'd have one. It "looks" like a great truck. But the most important thing for me in a vehicle is reliability than everything else. It shows me the company values my time because my time is the money that pays for the truck I buy. My time away from my kids. Loving my new 4R

Jeep has kinda responded and hopefully Toyota will, doubtful but it's a new benchmark for the market.

Yea, very doubtful unless there are drastic changes to the 6th gen. The platform/body just wasn't designed to accommodate 35s and barely 33s for that matter. We should be happy we even have good Fox shocks and a locker as an option across most Toyota SUVs. I don't see it going beyond that, however. What we have is plenty capable, but it will never be a Bronco and certainly not a Wrangler. I'd imagine they know that though and are fine with it. At least we aren't Chevy level of not trying...

The FCA/Ford battle has been fun to watch. Factory 35s (now 37s on Bronco Raptors/F150 Raptors as an option), factory lifts with ginormous Fox shocks, high horsepower with big V8s. I hope it's not the end of an era.

It may be the end of an era. From what I have read, Dodge is killing the Hemi and ending its SRT program in 2023 for a transition to what they refer to as “muscle EVs”.

I own both, the Bronco is better in every aspect. Period. Interior room, seat comfort, off road capabilities arent even close, 0 issues, 21,000 miles in first year.

More Power Needed? Fewer wires? 20 MPG? Check, Check, and we'll it depends on how you drive it (20 is my current average 90% city 10% highway)

Our shop was always full of Eco boost fords. No thanks. Toyota for me.

I dont have a problem with Fords per sey....im still loving the drive of my dear old 2003 F150. Every time i get into it it reminds me of driving my dad's old F-pickups when i was a teenager in the 80s. Ive replaced this and that on it, but the engine is still running well, and it gets me around town and allows me to haul junk and dirty things with ease. I bought it deliberately with roll-up windows, push up/down door locks, and as little bells and whistles as possible...because its a truck, and i knew i would beat it up.

And i love the 'IDEA' of the Bronco...Ive seen a few around, and they look the part. If they simply had a well tuned V6 and made about 325-350hp naturally asperated, then i'd look at them as a next-vehicle.

HOWEVER

As has been stated many times...the simple simplicity of what the T4R is appeals to me. And the LC200 of course as well. Sure, a few electronics are necessary, but whatever runs today will break tomorrow. And its about how long will any particular system run before it has an issue. As for my Runner, one caliper, and the rest works just fine...no frills, nothing special, just me, the road, some dirt, some snow, and some towing...and to this point alot of memories.
