4runner wheel shake?

Hi all I'm new here and in the market for a solid suv..

That said I been in the Fj cruiser forums cause I was very close to getting one... But i quickly found out about the wheel shake at 55-60

And sure enough the first one I test drove... Boom wheel shake!
To me that is unacceptable in a Toyota.

I'm curious since 4runner and Fj are very similar... Do any of u also experience this on your trucks?

On a side note... Toyota does not seem to offer bilsteins on the 4 runner as an accessory? Like the Fj does or am I worng

Hello there and welcome.... I am new to a 4runner but not Toyota. My 2010 4runner does not have any wheel shake at 55-60 or all the way to 80.

PS these are not trucks.

Coming from someone who recently sold his FJ and picked up the 4R. the 4R does not vibrate like the FJ. i tried everything to get it not to shake and was never successful. pretty disappointing.

Let me help you, when I click the trucks tab 2 vehicles show up... Tacoma's and Tundras.

You know where the 4runner is categorized by its manufacturer?? SUV....

Not trying to start anything only clarifying so the OP knows how to properly describe the vehicle.

Relax dude I'm just having fun with you. In my opinion you didn't post a picture of a truck either as it's clearly a mall crawler. I've heard the 4Runner called a car, truck, and SUV. So let me possibly be the first to ever quote Shakespeare on this forum...

Many with lifts and AT or MT tires have complained about the shimmies and have had their wheels balanced multiple times with no success. I only have the issue now cause I have a plugged tire in the front and have not bothered to get it balanced. I'm at just under 3" lift with BF Goodrich ATs and have not had problems prior to plugging the tire.

With street tires I have not heard of any balance/shimmy issues.

I call my TE a truck. [MENTION=66300]Intruder[/MENTION], a Canadian even, calls it a truck. You can call it your Unicorn catcher for all I care. Its a truck. It hauls my stuff.

sorry guys ok SUV...not truck (pick up)

I Just test drove one. Not bad solid I must say no shake...

BUT...a lil nose dive and highway wander...I deff thow in some Bilsteins to tighten that up

Those shocks and new tires will take care of the road wander. Depending on if they are the stocker tires... We just our 4runner and the tires are fairly soft and will translate to some swaying. But shocks and tires usually firm both of those up.

Yeah, lots of threads on the forum about guys putting 5100s on to improve the handling. Better tires than the stock ones will help lots too. Something with a stiffer sidewall will probably help with that wandering.

Maybe a LIGHT TRUCK tire on your SUV. :peep:
