4Runner window broken into... :-(

Someone hit our neighborhood last night and it's the first night my baby was not covered with the cover... They used a screwdriver to slide into the side of the window and broke the glass. Insurance is covering all costs to molding and glass. HI don't see why they did it because nothing was in sight for them to make them want to do it. All they accessed was the center console and that did not have anything worthy in it anyway. Alarm eventually went on when they opened the door, but I want a GBS installed to factory alarm. Has anyone installed one of these before? If so any directions or recommendations?

Which window is this. I just replaced my side rear window DIY. Posted it here.

Also this happened to me twice.. Once at the gym ****er broke into the front pass window. Alarm did not activate since he jumped in the window without opening the door causing tons of interior scratches.

I think a shock sensor would better set off the alarm before the break.
You can ziptie the sensor to your steering shaft near the pedals. So if the vehicle moves the slightest the alarm will go off. Probably would have prevented both of my breaks.

invest in an aftermarket alarm with better options, its going to be a better product, plus u can have remote start and other features added, glass sensor is good, also tilt sensor. look into compustar, then look into the directed products viper , clifford, python. they are the same product.

Yes, I actually have a Sunbrella fitted cover $500.00. My Saleen Mustang and wife's car get the garage. I need a 3 car garage... I'm a car nut, like to keep things nice and we have too many birds and trees around our place. Don't laugh, but one day after the rain water was on the roof. Birds said LOOK we found a bird bath and you know what goes in their bath... That was the end of it and I got a cover. It makes a big, big difference and also I never have to scrap my windows with frost, headlights are still original and look like new plastic, etc. Dash still cracked from sorry materials, but it's going to be replaced anyway.

Thanks. I've had Viper before and was pleased. For now I'm trying the GBS from Toyota. I'm wondering if I can install it myself without any prior knowledge of this factory alarm...

Thank you and sorry it happened to you 2x! It was passenger back window. Insurance covered 100% of the cost (New window from Japan!), no deductible for glass or any molding damage. Came out great and got it back yesterday. Waxed her up and we're back to normal. Still feel invaded though and would like to rough this person up...

BTW, where would you install the Toyota glass-break sensor and where is the alarm located so you can access the wire harness?
