How do you know if the plugs are firing, did you check that? Best guess it is electrial or fuel. Since cars are so complicated and connected to computers the best thing to do is to take it to a mechanic and have him connect it to his computer. He should know what the problem is since it doesn't run.

Of course you have to get it to a mechanic, which means you have to tow it or have them go to you.

Please give what year and engine you are talking about, maybe we can come up with a better answer for you.

 excuse eh me... i am sorry i forgot to post the year and stuff so here we go...... it is a '92 with a v-6 engine/// yes i checked out the plugs...... you know barely take them off to see if they spark.
i think it might be in the fuel...... i mean it is gettting all the electricity but just wont catch to start....... maybe that helps... what does the fuel filter look like so i can check that, and where is it located???

Your right, it sounds like a fuel problem. I am not convinced it would be the filter, but that should be replaced often anyway. It could be fuel pump, injectors, maybe a relay swicth. Maybe something totally different, figuring out what the problem is, is always a pain.

I don't know where your filter is in your model. Good luck in figuring out the problem. Let us know what was wrong.

Fuel pump is inside the gas tank. More than likely it's not the fuel pump becuase in my experiences, when the fuel pump has gone out on any of my cars, they just wouldn't even turn over. sounds like an intake problem to me. not getting enough air or something. I'd look at the air filter and the air intake.

My 4-runner won't start either!

Yo-Street-Ta...Was wondering if u ever got that 'starter problem' fixed? I've got an '89 4 Runner and the description of your problem sounds EXACTLY the same as I'm having now! Plugs r firing, etc. Just won't (as u say) go Vrooom! I turn the key & out comes a high-pitched "iiinnnngggggg'. Any feedback would be appreciated.
THANX. (Can't jump it or bump-start either!)

Check your MASS AIR FLOW METER! If that goes bad or doesn't have a good connection that'll cause the problem.

When was the last time you drove it? Did it just die on the road or just wouldn't start one day?

Mike

wont start

Mike, Thanx for the feedback. One day it just wouldnt start (to answer your question)...but I need to ask you....where exactly is the mass air flow meter located? My 4 runner is an 89'..22 RE engine.

Again, thanx for your feedback! D&B

jewelbaby44.

I read your post earlier and it doesn't sound like you have the same problem as "yo-street-ta". It sounds like a starter problem. The starter is not fully engauging and that is causing it to not start. Does the starter sound like it grinds when you try to start it?

The Mass Air Flow meter should be on your intake. (after your air filter and before your intake manifold)

Mike
