My name is John and I just moved out here to San Diego with my beautiful Wife. We were looking to get a good family vehicle, but i convinced her to get a toyota 4runner (my dad had one, it was my favorite).

I had a decent experience buying a used 06 tacoma last year from Mossy Toyota in Pacfic beach. Thats the only dealer I've been to in the area, they were good though, didn't have have to argue with them much about getting what I wanted. My current 4runner I bought on craigslist and that went much more smoothly.

I purchased my Tundra CrewMax from Toyota El Cajon, in fact, I drove down from Orange County. I would definitely consider purchasing my next Toyota from them.

I'm dreading the 5th generation reveal later this month. I'm trying to eliminate debt, and if the new 4runner exterior strikes my fancy (I'm just about sold on the Trail Edition specs) it'll be really difficult for me to avoid that temptation and stick with my debt elimination goals.

Good thing I love my Tundra (just don't tell her she's up for sale!).

If you don't mind the drive, try Carson Toyota. I've heard a lot of good things about them and lots of folks done special orders with them. My local dealer and sales person took care of my special order saving me the trip down south.

Craiglist you say? I've always been wary of craiglist ads. Was it from a private seller?

anybody been there? i know private sellers can be dependable but i just feel more comfortable buying from a dealership.

I'm not sure i understand your question.

Anyway, i went with toyta el cajon and they treated me like royalty. picked up a 2005 4runner with 40K and i'm loving it. especially the fourwheel drive!
