how do you like them so far? if you still have those soft bumps you could mount them in the coils to soften only the bump travel, and use the outer bumps to limit flex travel. I noticed that my bump travel(both wheels up) in the rear is being limited far too much by the bump stops i have, however they dont limit flex travel enough. my solution is to move them out towards the wheels, and shorten them if possible to gain bump travel.

Conner,

This is interesting because I was going to get a set of the super flexes. Right now with 37's the ass end is sagging. I'm thinking they are only 7 wraps right now and the Fox 2.0 with about 3in of lift to them. When I did Colorado I was just loaded to the max and it had nothing left at all. So yeah I'm going to go with something taller and stiffer.

What are the pro and cons of the Super Flex?

I like the super flex, I think they're a good spring. However they're known to be noisy. "Coil clank". They take weight very well because of how stiff they are. Really the only reason I switched was to try something different for once.

The soft bumps are long gone. With the old coils, I very rarely came near the bumpstops anyways, it will be interesting to see how these coils perform.

Picked up a spare set of LCA's from a friend (ChildrenofBodom), but they've been sitting outside for 5 years.

Lower balljoint and Tie rod still attached, and rusted on.

New wheel bearings being installed currently, spindle gussets going on Wednesday. Should have a driving truck by Christmas assuming I can schedule an alignment on Thursday!

Those are some good looking welds man. You been spending a lot of time behind the hood? What welder are you using? I haven't touched my welder since like March lol.

How did they go on? I'm looking at getting some for my truck to help stiffen the spindle. They are super cheep anyways.

Do you thing they could be installed on the truck? Or too much head near the upper ball joint?

Sadly my welder isn't powerful enough to do this kind of work, so I had my fabricator friend in El Cajon do it for me. I still love welding and can't wait to get a better setup.

Haven't installed everything yet. I spent the rest of the day pulling off my old lower control arms, which involved removing most of the steering rack too, and it was raining haha.

The Total Chaos Gussets went on with ease. Hardly any grinding needed, everything fell into place. I think it would be pretty hard to weld them while on the truck, but it is possible. I wouldn't worry about heat to the lower ball joint all too much.

Pics!

I'll bring the Nikon out to take some actual pictures when I'm installing everything tomorrow. Hopefully I can knock it all out in a day.

Great decision with the spindle upgrade. My failure last month has cost me a lot, over $1,500 so far with the wheel bearings, new spindle hub, upgrades, upper control arm damage, 2 tires (one was shredded up) and a failed brake caliper from brake line breaking apart and pushing the breaks to the floor on these old calipers, plus the $300 in gas and tow dolly rental paid to my friend. AND I'm pretty sure you hit the trails a bit harder than I do, with the jumping and all. Anyways its a good move because a spindle failure can be so much of a problem and leave you completely stranded.

Reading your failure and 4-Ripcords write up convinced me that now was the best time to do this. Plus the gussets were only $40, very cheap insurance.

Yeah they're cheap insurance but definitely involved. I may try to do a manual hub conversion if I do some gussets so that I can kill two birds with one stone, but that isn't in the immediate future as far as mod money/priority goes. Manual hubs & spindles aren't cheap to come by.

I've seen you mention you want to get the Solo LT kit at some point. I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to do a full on mid travel or just spend a little extra on LT and be done with it. When do you think you'll bite the bullet on that?

Yes, they were noisy and also stiff even with my rear bumper and 35 hanging off the end. I wanted to try something different and I only paid $50 for these LC coils.
Had you considered 861's? LC coils ride amazing, but that spring rate could barely handle much weight. $50 is definitely worth the experiment though!

Wow those are nice! This is gonna be a sweet setup once you have it all together!

Did the gusset get in the way of tightening the upper control arm bolt at all?

Aren't 861's progressive? I didn't want a progressive coil to avoid it making noise like my Superflexes did.

The gusset did not get in the way at all.

Gussets are definitely a good peace of mind. We had a 4th gen get a bent spindle while we were in Moab last March. Limped it off the trail with the tire looking hellaflush. 30mph from Sevenmile Rim back to Moab. 500 tow to Grand Junction (the only place willing to work on it within the week) 1500+ in parts.

Only thing I'm worried about is getting the slug adapter out should I ever need to. My Light Racing slugs may be different from the camburg ones I'll be swapping to eventually so who knows what will happen there.

Oh, and everytime I see your truck I want 35s. So sick

I'm worried about the slug backing out on its own. Like it did on Brian. I'm not sure a C-clip is good enough. I wish they were steel so I could tac it in place.

35's are fantastic. So much work, but way worth it.

Hi guys. I'm not sure what you mean by the slug backing out. I'm not sure what the slug is (sorry). What happened on mine is the spindle ring itself sheered apart. I couldn't take a picture of it because it tore apart in a way that wasn't easy to photograph. The picture of the BuiltRight UCA looking all messed up, what broke was not the Built Right (James's brand) UCA and metal ball joint. It was the Toyota RING that which attaches to the UCA which broke open. Installing the weld on upgrade is a good idea. And btw that estimate from TCMach about $1500 parts plus tow. I mentioned this above already (sorry) but that sums up my story. $900 parts, $600 labor for initial fix, PLUS 2 tires (one was shredded), PLUS another $500 in front brakes because my left caliper was ruined. PLUS $350 for tow dolly and gas back to San Diego and that was with my friend towing me.

More people need to mention this when it happens so the word gets out. If you are redoing your wheel bearings, do this also.

Nice framed picture! If I had that with me in DV the glass and more would have been smashed to pieces.

:peace:

Got an alignment and drove it to Big Bear for the day. Drove fantastic. Averaged 16.5 mpg on the way there and 22 mpg on the way home. These MTR's love snow, they're fantastic. Went everywhere I pointed them with 0 issues. I even pulled out a stuck Chevy Avalanche.
