4Running Daily's Build Thread

I would get the body lift first. Especially if you plan on going on 285's and larger. I did a ton of pounding and trimming (so I thought) and still rub with 285's on full lock and full compression when wheeling. They are cheap and a 1" body lift has absolutely no detrimental effects on the rig.

That is one of my fav trails for sure. I haven't had the balls to drive up pancake rock though. ;)

Any update on the paint work yet?

I dropped it off Monday. I really should have called today, but I didn't.

I have had California State testing for 3 STRAIGHT WEEKS! Then I have a final on Friday and Monday.

I really am fine with them keeping it for a week or so, so they can make it right.

I will definitely call tomorrow though.

Hey man, I like the work you're doing to your rig! I'm pretty new to this site and I love checking out everybody's different ideas. I have an Evergreen Pearl 97 SR5 that I want to repaint as well. I bought it with 131,000k and I'm in the process of doing a ton of upgrades, and I want to do a paint job to cap off all the hard work.

I also think you're a smart kid for driving a 4Runner. When I was in high school, I had a 65 Mustang, and it was a cool car, but I was always working on it, and of course, being a teenager, I had a limited budget. Good luck with your build!

I would have gladly taken a 65 mustang over a 4runner (as long as it was a V8 and stick). I constantly have to work on cars anyway, might as well make it a cool car.

I turned down so many nicer and more expensive cars for my 4runner

Ohh really?

My Dad didn't tell me until after I sold it to you.

The plan was originally for me to drive the 4Runner until the end of high school. Then my Dad would trade the 4Runner in on a Tacoma and give me the Bimmer to go to college in. But he saw I was too involved with the 4Runner, so he sold the Bimmer.

One of my really good friends is a senior. When he was 14 he bought a 944 off craigslist for 500 bucks. Didn't run, dings everywhere, there was no interior. He has worked on it since, and now he's 18. It runs, but isn't driveable yet. So I convinced him to buy a 1995 Toyota 4Runner 4WD as his daily driver.

Ahh Alright it's 1 am, I've been trolling craigslist for all it's worth currently, which means it's time to update this build thread.

First off here's the plan for the lift. I'm broke currently, but eventually this is it.
+/- Super flex coils depending on availability

Just curious as it is now 7am, why do you want to update the lift?

How will this one be superior?

My current lift is only 1 and half inches above stock. I need to get higher in the air. When I went up Pancake, I hit my tranny crossbar, rear pumpkin, and gas tank skid in a matter of seconds. 2 more inches and i would have been fine.

@Fightman: Wheels and tires on the list too! I need a bigger lift first so I can fit 285's without using too much of the BFH.
