4Running Daily's Build Thread

Honestly, I'm hoping in the near future none of us will use laptops and I'll have to escape the zombie invasion in my armored-up Runner after I install a 50 Cal turret...Oh wait, I use a computer every day and I don't have armor yet (or a 50 cal).

Your paint looks awesome! I meant to check in on this thread a while ago. I have some clear coat issues on my hood and roof as well, so I'm saving up for a paint job. Like you I'm kinda pissed I have to spend money on paint, but it's necessary to clean my truck. I'm sad when I look at her cuz she deserves better. I'm debating on the color though. Right now she's evergreen pearl and I like the color, but I'm wondering if I should do a different shade of green so she stands apart from a stock Runner, especially if I'm going to spend the money. I'm hoping to get away with spending 1500$ or less. My body is in excellent work with zero dents, but I have some scratches. Nice work man.

If I could do it again I would
-Remove the damn windows and molding myself!
-Gone to a more reputable place

On the Color note
-I am in love with Evergreen Pearl, I use to hate it. But now that it's fresh paint, it's darker. It looks great. If I did that again I would have them add a little black to the evergreen to make it a little darker.

Update 06/13/12
I don't know if any of you saw my other thread about my Mac problem, but now my Mac is better then ever!

In total this means big things for the 4Runner.
Big Things List (Next couple Months)
Air Locker
Another compressor for locker only
BAMF Sliders
MAJOR Tune-UP

Nice list just make you save enough for beer money :D, and you say "another compressor" i am too lazy to read what the first one is for. I hope it is running a 1" air line to 5 forward facing and 2 reverse facing air horns off a an old GE Locomotive.

10 air horns all mounted on the roof rack actually...

It's actually a small portable air compressor unit from Walmart, but it works great!

Did you have trouble with overspray? And adding black to the evergreen pearl is a great idea. Maybe I can come up with a more macho name for the color though. It's funny how I'll be talking to a buddy about my truck and when he asks what color is I look at the ground and mumble "evergreen pearl" and if he asks me to speak up I just say "green".

Great list by the way. Right now, and for the next year or so, my truck is my DD so I can't go too crazy on mods. This means I have to lurk around the forums and drool at everybody else's armor and crazy upgrades.

So slight update on your Dad's old vehicle ... z 330i

Took it over to the dealer for a valve cover gasket replacement due to the randomly snapped valve cover bolts. The car now has 55,000 miles. The dealer offered to fix replace the valve cover gasket and bolts under the X-warranty. They also replaced both the front & rear Rotors + Pads, again under the X-warranty (nice!). I was given a loaner can and would have mine back already but they decided to keep the car to investigate a clunk which sounds to like an engine mount to me.

Luckily this has all been under that extended warranty but it expires in XMAS so I am unsure if I will keep the car beyond 2013.

Lets review repair costs ....
* Full front and rear rotors + pads = $1700 dealer price :rockthrow:
* Valve cover gasket replacement = $900-1000 dealer price :whipping2
* Upcoming 60,000 mile service = not sure of price

This car (which I love driving) has only 55,000 miles and it would have just cost me $2,700 at the dealer to maintain without the X-warranty. ..... WTF BMW!

=> I am thinking of selling it before 75,000 miles :sadwave:

Ya, we had a few dealership trips, but nothing this bad. Actually, it's been solid from like 35,000 miles and on...

I loved driving it too. The last time I drove it was on the way to meet you at Fry's. I missed the crap out of it for 2 months, and then got over it.

I honestly don't blame you for selling it.
Two things though
-Sell it to someone that will take care of it
-Don't buy a prius

Well I would keep it for at least 9 months. The brakes are needed every 50k miles so those are good for awhile. The valve cover bolts were a fluke on this year/model, apparently it is quite common on the 06s. In all, I am confident it won't have any problems for at least another 30k miles and will probably be fine until 100k.

Well Bye to anyone that actually reads this.

Tomorrow I leave for Germany. Then I go to Switzerland, then Italy, and finally end in France.

Cya in two weeks!
