Nope.
Not normal strength. Really really slow rpms to start, like a really crank. My scan gauge and my radio flickers while the engine is attempting to start.
I'm thinking it's a short somewhere.

Make sure the grounds are all tight then. The guys who put in your new engine may not have been aware of the paces you would be putting it through.
What the voltage output at initial crank, then once warmed up?

He was definitely aware haha. He puts his 3rd gen through the same paces .
I don't have a volt meter here at school. I can try a new battery though, just for the heck of it. It's a costco battery and has free replacements for 36 months.

I know its only been in the heat for 2 weeks but our heat can kill a costco battery in about that time. LOL I vote battery.

Sam has the right idea with it being a battery. When my cousin was stationed in Yuma, he went through two batteries in 30 months.
Spend a little $$$ on some tools to keep in the 4runner.

I have a full 300 piece Crasftman toolset in the back, it just doesn't have a volt meter, yet. haha

This seems to have fixed the problem:
I'm done doing things twice, so this is the best battery I could find.

BTW you said you can't read the voltage but you can read codes? Scanguage tells you the voltage so does torque.

I was wondering how you forgot that the Scangauge read voltage, but let Brian call you out on it.
That battery should do the trick. My aunt's 16 month old Costco battery died this March. I like your rebadged Odyssey battery much better.

I've never had anything other then a Costco Battery in my truck. Now when I turn the key the radio stays on while the engine starts. With my Costco batteries, if I tried starting the engine everything would turn off completely.

I'm not knocking the Sear's DieHard Platinum - I hear it is one of the best BUT I'd like to warn you that if your problem was charging system related then in 6 months even that battery may start to under perform badly.
I went through 3 batteries in about 4 years before upgrading my power / charging system via the Big 3 upgrade. It was the difference between 13.6 and 14.2-14.3 V at 1000 RPM. Over time the undercharging caused my batteries to go bad. One was an Optima Red Top and the other was a Yellow Top.
Just an FYI to get that voltage up to above 14V if it isn't already. Each time I replaced the battery the truck's battery problems would go away for 3-6 months.

I took the easy way to do it though. Instead of ordering a bunch of individual parts, I just bought a kit for a couple bucks more.
I went with the Stage 1 Kit from this guy on TacomaWorld:

Alright this was my day today:
I was on my way to a recreational facility called Butcher Jones 30 minutes north of Phoenix. Not paying attention to road, I had school on my mind. Passed a cop, I was only doing 45 figured the speed limit was 45 so I was good, didn't think twice about it. I pull into the recreational facility parking lot at the end of the road. I slowly roll over a speed bump at the entrance only to see the cop with his lights on behind. I pull into the nearest space and was told I would be given 2 citations. Apparently the speed limit was 25 and that speed bump I slowly went over was a stop sign. So I walked away with 2 tickets after only being in Arizona for 3 weeks. Never been pulled over before in my life. Not a good day.

The speed bump marked that there was a stop sign. I just didn't see the physical sign because I was focused on all the little kids running on the street in front of me.
