4th gen 4-runners

I owned a 98 4r for 13 years and sold it in 2011. After missing it, Ijust bought an 09 UR sport edition. I never noticed untill looking at these trucks that this style has gone almost unchanged (including interior) for 7 yrs. Granted it's a classic design IMOP, but why so long before the next gen of vehicles? Is this average for car and truck models before they update?

It is norm for 4Runners and Land Cruisers: 7 years is the model cycle they have.

There was a refresh in 2006. Rounded the wheel wells, new front and rear bumper, new spoiler, new front facia, new limited rims, led taillights. Changed the instrument cluster. 7 years is the average for most SUVs. 5 for cars.
