4th gen 4Runner Secrets?

i have retained accessory power n everything but my aftermarket stereo head unit. the PO i think bought a cheap PAC adapter that didnt have that feature.

Not sure if this falls within the same category or not but the 10 speaker JBL headunit offers individual sound setups for each mode entry. If I adjust bass, mid & treble on CD mode, once I switch to Aux, I'll have to make new adjustments, the previous settings do not carry over, I like this. Also, the last stock HU I owned with Aux IP always reset to the radio once the car was turned off, supper annoying after running into a store or something briefly. Our headunits stay set to Aux when the power is shut off... It's a nice feat to have.. trust me.

Its not just the JBL, I have a non-JBL system with the stock 6-CD changer/MP3. I can do the same thing. My volume is different between radio, aux, and CD base on what I usually keep it set at. Not sure about the audio settings, but I'd guess they are the same way. I've just never checked those specifically.

Yea... I don't think anyone else is that advance. I know Ford isn't... cause I never seem to start them on the 1st start anymore...

i know this post is old but my work truck has the turn and start feature and it a 08 F550 powerstroke just fyi.

There are a few car makers that do utilize that feature, but most of them skipped it in lieu of push buttons.

I can think of my last 4 or 5 vehicles(personal and work) had the one touch start. Ford, Dodge, Audi, Toyota

I'm a little surprised on the Ford and Dodge to be honest with you, its something I remember seeing on more German, Luxury vehicles. But it was that sort of "fancy" feature that was the bridge towards keyless ignitions ( What's wrong with a nice mechanical key? I'm all for computerization, but somethings really shouldn't need to be over engineered IMHO.)

Was it perchance a Deisel? I noticed that another member mentioned a deisel truck having this also, I wonder if it started there?

No it was a 4.7L petrol engine.

I just read this whole thread and all the little tricks were great! But no one mentioned the small triangular compartment that's formed between the 2nd row seat backs and the rear shelf that's formed when the shelf is in position. I use it to store all of my tools so they don't get stolen.

Also, you don't have to pull the sunroof cover back before you open it. If you press the button, the window will pull the cover back while it opens.

Every vehicle with a sunroof I've ever owned does that though...so not much of a secret.

Just in case no one has mentioned it, there is a trash bag holder that folds out behind the center console. Plastic shopping bags fit in the frame, but I use one of the hilux surf trash containers. Kind of cool and very useful as I hate having trash in the side door pockets.

I used that to hold a thermos of coffee on a road trip. Kept it from tipping over and right where me and the passenger could reach it. It will now always be a thermos holder to me. no garbage, lol.

Was in Austin this wkend, (lots of hills). I noticed that the 4R would downshift on downhill grades if I tapped the brakes once. Pretty sweet.

My 04 does that, it's very noticeable with the aftermarket exhaust. It will do it even if I'm not going downhill but just braking very hard. Sounds like a jake brake though when going down hills.

I believe there's a speaker in the front fender. You can either cut the wires, or bring it to the dealer and have them shut it off. :cheers:

I didn't want to pay the dealer to do it so I removed the speaker and totally wrapped it up in electric tap and cloth. Now it's barely audible. Driver's side front fender.
