4th gen 4Runner Secrets?

If your talking about the Clutch Start Cancel button, my 98 Tacoma had this.

My 06 Tacoma does too. It can also be used to "bump start" your vehicle if it stalls on a loose uphill climb.
Hold the button in with the vehicle in gear and the clutch let out and turn the key. The vehicle will start in gear.

you can also hold the key in the lock or unlock position in the back door to roll the rear window up or down. everyone probably already knows that but now i have my 2nd post! yippie, 13 to go!

About the "secret compartment" in the glove box, the zippered case containig the owner's manual fits perfectly if you leave the flap open.

I know there are a lot of options as far as the beeping or turning off the beeping when locking and unlocking the doors from the fob. I adjusted mine a few years ago. ( if i remember correctly i just googled it and found some answers) i also adjusted the auto locking of the doors doing the same.

Wait, the rear tailgate window goes up? I thought it only went down!

Not sure if this works with the V6 model, but my 4.7L can make $60 in gas disappear.

1) Fill vehicle with your choice of gas
2) Drive vehicle 320 miles
3) Open gas filler door and cap, and you will see the fuel from step 1 has disappeared. :bugeye:
4) Fill and repeat

Of course I do the above with a big smile on my face because I LOVE driving my baby!
Maybe because I'm up late and really getting sleepy but I just read your post and I'm cracking up right now, it really caught me off guard. Well done sir!

This thread is amazing! I learned many things about my new(used) 05 sport.

Some of the little electronic things are different for me, however. I assume it has to do with the viper system that came in it.

Firstly, my headlights DO NOT turn off automatically. I got up for work Wednesday morning and my battery was dead. Oops!

Secondly, if I lock the doors with my fob, they do still open from the inside.

Thirdly, if I lock the doors and another door stays open, there is no annoying sound.

BUTTTTTTT I was really excited when I was messing with the AUX and RED buttons on the fob, and my 4R started.

Right on. Next on the list after i swap in LEDs is going to be a nice set of floor mats and seat covers.. any recommendations?

I'd go weather tech. I have the husky ones and they curl up and are cheaply made. Not sure on seat covers, tons of options though.

Sent from the drivers seat of my 05 4runner.

Go with Clazzios on the seat covers. I just installed them in black leather with light grey stitching and they look amazing with black WeatherTechs.

Weathertech for the front. Perfect fit and the gray option is a really good color match. Only issue is the drivers side mat doesn't cover the left foot rest very well and crap easily gets under it there.
I went with Husky for the second row. This mat extends under the front seats much further than the weathertechs do and provides better protection. The gray color isn't as good though and I had to cut off some spiky tabs that are supposed to grip the carpet, but some are on the door side lip where there is nothing to grip and my kids scratched their feet a few times. Looks like the picture you posted of the trash bag holder has the Husky mat in it.
I did Weathertech for the cargo area because they were the only one with a 3rd row option, but so far it's been excellent.

So my rear window will only go down with the key in the back door, the key only turns one direction. Anybody else experience this?

Turning the key clockwise should close the rear window.

Mine functions, but the key insertion is a little gravelly/rough. Anyone know the best lube to place in there so it works smoother?
