4th gen 4Runner Secrets?

What he said, but I think the alarm is genuine toyota, maybe not put in when built, but maybe at the dealership. My key fobs that control it are genuine toyota key fobs. They also roll down the rear hatch window from the same fobs.

I installed an RS3200 on my 4runner. I did not add any extra lights on. My Dad's Camry has a dealer installed alarm, and the dealer added an extra light.

that's interesting. the aftermarket sunroof switch looks pretty "factory", doesn't look ghetto at all. also refer to the pic (sig), this is a SR5 but does it has the Limited black wood trim inside?

I think the wood trim is the soft stick-on kit. It's also on the silver bezel that surrounds the center stack.

You mean this ugly crap??? I plan to peel it off one day and throw it in the garbage, I hate it. Supposed to make the vehicle look "fancy" but I think it cheapens it up having stick on BS everywhere. I would eventually like to paint and clearcoat that silver dash center inset to match the exterior color. But I gotta wait till I get done the body work and painting my Honda though lol. So, might be a while.

Hey Falls there is a simple mod you can do floating around here somewhere so the fogs stay on. All you have to do is jumper 2 wires together under the steering wheel. It bothered me as well so I did this mod and now all 6 lights are on! Dont think its "street legal" but who is going to drive past a cop with their high beams on anyways?

I think headlights with a seperate high and low beam will have all four lights on at once. Headlights that have a dual filament bulb, high and low together, the low will cut out when the highbeam is on. My guess it's to cut down on the amount of heat generated.

My Acura Integra was that way too, when you hit the high beam switch, all four lights were on. lows were dim as hell though.

My 96 and my 2000 Rams both only have one or the other on, never both. They have the integrated hi/low bulb in one housing so it would generate too much heat. I think some of the 98-01 Sport version Rams had a dual bulb housing, but not sure if they both stayed on when you went to high beams. My 96 has factory fogs and they turn off when you go to high beam.

Both trucks though, you can momentarily turn both low and high on together by pulling the turn signal stalk back part way, it's for reading road signs. Works good too for blinding idiots that pass you with their brights on, you can momentarily switch to both sets and really give em an eyefull.....

To turn off your seat belt chime in a MY2008 do the following:

1) make sure the trip meter is in ODO mode.

2) turn the key to the ON position (dont start)

3) within a few seconds of turning it to ON, press and hold the trip reset for 15 seconds

4) while holding the trip reset, buckle drivers seat belt

5) odo reading will change to "B-on"

6) press trip reset once to change to " B-off"

Turn off car.

All done!

I just tried this with my 2008 4WD Sport Edition, but I had to Start the Engine for it to work!

So for me.

1. Start the engine.
2. Press and held the ODO button.
3. Then clicked the drivers seatbelt in.

After that, the 'b-on' appeared, and I pressed the ODO button again, and then it went to 'b-off'.

Also, I did this while the drivers door was open. Don't know if that makes any difference or not.

03-08 with 4.7L Trick

Not sure if this works with the V6 model, but my 4.7L can make $60 in gas disappear.

1) Fill vehicle with your choice of gas
2) Drive vehicle 320 miles
3) Open gas filler door and cap, and you will see the fuel from step 1 has disappeared. :bugeye:
4) Fill and repeat

Of course I do the above with a big smile on my face because I LOVE driving my baby!

Depending on if you're holding the lock or unlock side of the switch, you'll enable or disable the feature for locking or unlocking respectively.

For locking there are three modes: do nothing (both options disabled), lock when shifting out of park, or speed sensitive locking (~12mph). Both shift and speed sensitive locking can be enabled at the same time as well.

For unlocking there are also three modes: do nothing, unlock when shifting into park or unlock when turning the engine off.

I just picked up an 03 V8 and it didn't come with an owners manual.

The vehicle currently locks whenever I shift out of Park and does not unlock when I shift into Park.

Does anyone know if this technique works on the 03? Hold down the lock/unlock switch on the drivers side door for five seconds while the ignition is in the 'On' position? Are there any other tricks to getting this to work?

It is driving me crazy having to always unlock my doors after shifting into Park.

Other than that this is one sweet SUV. I can see why there are so many happy 4Runner owners here!

Ah! Your trick is better than mine, it takes 400 miles to make the fuel disappear. I think the longer time frame makes the wait all the more worthwhile!
