4th gen 4Runner Secrets?

I had my tech at toyota hook up our scan tool to the truck and went into the customize section and turned off/on a bunch of things for me. i got it so it wont beep when using the lock/unlock on the fob, got my DRL turned off. Timer for auto headlight off feature shortened from 30seconds to 15. you can also program it to not flash your hazards when lock/unlocking it and a bunch of other stuff. If you have a friend at toyota with a techstream have them hook it up

For some reason I never use the original compartment to hold my sun glasses. You know...the one that folds down. Instead, I like to hang them from the Oh Sh#$ bar that is in-between the driver's side window and the windshield. You can't lose them when they are right in front of you and they don't block any of your view when looking out the window/windshield. Try it and you won't use that other little compartment again.
That's the only place I keep em now thanks to this post. Been about 2 months now.

Found that the V8 emblem is easily removable without any tools as it just clips into place. In addition I found I could move the V8 emblem to almost any other spot on the grill I like. However for now I have just removed it as I prefer that look.

Was in Austin this wkend, (lots of hills). I noticed that the 4R would downshift on downhill grades if I tapped the brakes once. Pretty sweet.

+1 same here.

I know reading the Manual is "uncool", but is has a literal plethora of information.

How to reset Maint light, how to change body settings. What lights mean and don't mean, etc.

Just thought I would share.

:)

No kidding... about 95% of these secrets are documented in the owners manual.

The sensor must trigger by the tire pressure because it gives you low pressure warning for all tires, spare tire included.

They're talking about the Rear Air Suspension that's optional on the V8 Limited, not the tire pressure sensors.

Are you sure? I have a 2003 and I've got the maint. light that comes on when I start the car. I have yet to see it actually come on other than that though.

If you are talking about the MAINT light that comes on to tell you to change your oil, my 03 has one as well.
