4th Gen 4runners recalled today by toyota

Just read about this in the news. Toyota agreed to recall like 2 million more vehicles to get the government to leave them alone. Looked on my toyota ownership portal page and there it was. Ironic thing is it says they wont have a remedy until April.

I personally think that the government pushed much harder here than they would've if it had been GM, Ford, etc. I am not a conspiracy theorist but I honestly think that the government and nation as a whole have so much vested interest in seeing Detroit pull through that they jumped on this chance to stick it to the worlds top automaker.

Thats not to say that toyota wasn't in the wrong here on some level and that there wasn't a problem. But it just amazes me how this started off with a select group of vehicles and has spread to the largest recall in history covering many models and years.

pretty crazy. I actually received a nissan recall for my xterra yesterday. But, i traded in the xterra last week lol. That was my 2nd recall that i've gotten for that xterra.

Whenever i think of a recall i always think of that scene from fight club.

I agree bigwebb, blown way out of proportion.

I just read the story regarding the Canadian ones that are being recalled along with some Lexus's (Lexii???-lol), they say it's "to have the driver's side floor carpet cover replaced" ? (Doesn't that mean floor mat?) as well as some Lexus GS's for "to change the shape of a plastic pad embedded in the driver's side floor carpet that could cause pedal interference".

Short of replacing carpets there's nothing else that could be checked/replaced anymore. Hopefully that should stop any more bugging by any government about this now.

yeah I just feel like the scope has been expanded waaaaay to far. I don't even see how the pedal on my t4r could get stuck in the first place.

I love these as they can take a beating, and are tough enough that they do not budge like a mat.
