4th gen 4wd grinding problem

Ive got a 07 sport v6 with 115k on it. It snowed heavily here in WI and as I started up my truck and made a u turn to get out of my work parking lot (4wd already on) the 4wd started making a grinding noise like you missed a shift on a car and kept grinding the stick into the gears. 2wd works great no lights or noises, 4wd lights come on normally but when you put it in reverse or drive it makes a grinding noise from hell and the truck wont move. The actuator on the frond diff seams to be working and all vacuum lines i could track down look good front axle engages also. I took it to the dealership they tell me the front passenger axle is bad but its two months old from Napa. Also I've had a grinding noise that almost sounded like a wheel bearing going out but it seams to have gone away after the 4wd quit working. Ive found a lot of write ups on the 3rd gens using the search option but not much on the 4th gens, any help would be appreciated as I'm sure I'm not the only one to have this problem.

All fixed now! looks like the 3 month old axle snapped and rendered 4wd useless. I do believe the transfer case wont engage if the front diff isn't locked in. Don't count on new parts to hold up all the time lol. The dealership was correct and i will be returning to them for service as they have been pretty fair with me so far.

Thats good news, been scouring the web to find someone who had a similar issue to what I did to mine yesterday, and unfortunately I'm about as lost as I'm sure you were. I had mine in 4hi with the center diff locked (very stupid of me but I forgot) and made a close to full crank right turn on dry pavement, heard a snap it started making that grinding noise and 4wd was useless. Limped her home 2wd, while i was driving it back only got to about 40mph but the front end was bumping harshly over every crack in the road. Turned it off in the driveway and tried to turn it back on 10 mins later and all i got was the battery light along with vsc trac and vsc off lights, no check engine light, all the other dash lights and my radio won't turn on along with my brake lights when i push them in.
Your incident sounds about the same except Im assuming yours turned back on afterwards?
