For those of you with an aftermarket engine skid, do you have to remove it to jack up the front? The OEM skid has that reinforced jacking point, but I don’t see anything like it on the aftermarket skids I’ve looked at.

I have 1/4" thick aluminum skids on one rig and 3/16" steel on the other. I've had both rigs suspended by rolling onto a rock on the skids! So I'm not worried about putting my floor jack in the middle of the skid and lifting both front wheels off the ground while putting jackstands under the frame rails. You can use a piece of wood on top of the jack to prevent scratches and to spread the load a little if you are worried about it, but I'm waaaay past that!

Thanks. Ended up ordering an Asfir 1/4” aluminum skid. It occurred to me that the OEM skid is off the attach points while the aftermarket skids are more flush. Plus I called RCI and they said you could jack directly on either their steel or aluminum skids. Nearly bought theirs but couldn’t pass on Asfir at $288 shipped.

Asfir is what I bought last year, and 1/4" aluminum skids are quite tough. Asfir's design is decently tucked upward, as quite a few skids hang much lower. I mounted it between the catalytic converter protection bars (or whatever they are) and the frame to maximize ground clearance.

I did have fitment issues, but Asfir was very responsive. They ended up giving me a partial refund, because I had to drill 4 holes larger (I bought a step drill for this), and I had to bend it quite a bit. Bending it wasn't easy, BTW! If you have this issue and don't have some experience in metal forming, I recommend to send it back.

Thanks for the heads up.I don’t understand how it’s not plug-in play if it’s designed for the 4th Gen 4R.

Do you mind sharing more about your experience? I tried to install the skid today and one hole in the support bracket doesn't line up with the one it's supposed to bolt to. Was that why you had to widen the holes? And why did you have to bend it? TIA.

EDIT: I tried again today with some more time and the truck jacked up so I had more room to work. I could see more closely where the issue was and while it was close, the holes lined up and I got everything installed.

Howdy all . Maybe I overlooked it in this thread but does anybody make a set of skids the are not made to accommodate for a front diff drop? RCI use to require a spacer but do not anymore, c4 are also made this way. Do we just have to sacrifice 1" of ground clearance to protect our undercarriage and that's the way it is?

Looking to order RCI engine skid for a V8 4th gen. for anyone who has bought this, if I get just the engine skid and not the trans skid as well can I keep my factory trans skid or will I need to remove the factory trans skid. Thanks in advance, sorry if this has already been answered.
