4th Gen Brake Flush

That's my mission this weekend.
Dozens of great posts on this site for caliper replace / bleeding but I'm way over due for a brake fluid change and have yet to find any procedure or hints.

Have you had success with a complete flush ?

ABS accumulator / pump and other magic require a different process

I did a complete flush. Do the flush with the key in the on position with the engine off for the rear calipers.

I think I read something about the rears would flush themselves if ign on / motor off.
But the fronts ? Just need to do a bunch of brake pumping and careful M.C. level maintenance ?

Yea if you crack the bleeder with the ignition on, engine off it will self bleed the rears. You may need to hold the brake, I dont remember it has been a year.

Yes, just watch the M.C. and don't run it dry. I did the fronts like normal. I turned off the car to do the fronts, turned the key to on when I did the rears.

As you are bleeding the pedal pressure will change when you cycle the key on and off, and you will have to pump up the brakes to get the pedal firm again.

I used a Mityvac brake bleeder and auto refill bottle after replacing the rubber lines with braided stainless steel lines. It made solo operation a breeze and never worried about going dry.
