The 4th gen is 2004 a SR5 v8 4x4 with 160k on it listed for 9k has a 3 inch toytec lift and some wheels and tires mostly stock has some maintenance records(timing belt, brakes etc) 3rd owner.
Both have clean carfax reports I'm leaning towards the 4th as I think with it being a little newer the creature comforts might be a little nicer but can't get past the 160k miles vs the 100k. Any input from you all would be awesome hope to be in a 4runner shortly.

I would go with the 4th gen hands down. It has a lot of life left and you know whats been done to it. I don't like buying a car without records because I feel like I should replace all fluids, filters, and belts. With the 4th gen already having a lift, it saves you a lot of time and money later on if you want to build it. The 4th gens are also way more comfortable. I have a friend with a 3rd gen and I don't think I could sit in it for more than an hour. You will LOVE the sound and power of the V8, its a huge difference over the 3rd gen. Thanks for the input, going to look at it this afternoon and hopefully its as good in person as it looks online. Has a small rip in the driver seat, the dash is cracked (Common issues ive noticed) and a small dent on the drivers side rear bumper other then that based of pictures looks good. Just hope he has some receipts for the maintenance he says was done or that I can verify the belt was changed at some point.
 
I believe with the Bilstein 5100's in the front, we have about a total of around 8.5" of wheel travel. Depending on high you have your springs on the Bilsteins set will determine how much up and down travel at ride height the truck has. But again the total is around 8.5 to 9.0" if my memory serves correct. There are ways to gain more useable wheel travel.
 
o I have an issue I can't seem to figure out. When I turn the wheel it is binding in a certain spot every rotation. The inner steering knuckle is fine, clean, and I am positive it isn't an issue. The lower one is they typical rusty looking, but it doesn't seem to be bound up, but I could be wrong. I sprayed the shit out of it with penetrant, and will continue over the next several days. When someone turns the wheel you can see the shaft turn in an oblong not a perfect circle which leads me to believe lower knuckle again. But, if you come to the bound up spot then turn the steering wheel back and forth it sounds like it is clunking INSIDE the steering rack... I am at a loss and I really hate putting money into these parts when I fully intend to sas this fall. Any experience advice, tips, things to check would be greatly appreciated.

I was taking about the steering shaft, there is a knuckle with a u joint on either end, one is at the bottom where it connects into the steering rack. I can't see it binding and I'm worried is the actual steering rack.

It looks the Lexus GX has the "mist" feature for their windshield wipers.

Anybody know if the wiper stalk is interchangeable and if that would add the feature or if more modding would be needed?

I imagine it would most mist the fluid across the whole windshield, rather than the 4 strait lines.
I agree, hate the lines. My car mists.

Mist is where you push the lever up and it wipes the window once and stops until you push it again. Great for when you get a little mist on the windshield so you don't have to turn the wipers on them off.

I got a quote from a body shop for ~$200 to drill and retap all four holes. One of the back ones broke off as well, so that's the route I'll go. Planning on doing that in the next month or three. =D

The 'mist' feature cycles the wipers once, triggered by flipping the wiper stalk up (instead of down for timed operation of the wipers) Useful when it is just misting and the timed operation is still too often. (It's a Seattle thing :D )

It's frustrating because my '98 Avalon had it, but my '04 4Runenr doesn't. IMO, it should be standard on ALL vehicles equipped with wipers.

My threads were shot in the front, drilled and trapped out for m10, I don't really like the larger bolt size and it' rusted already. Thanks.
 
Trying to decide if buying 265/70R17 BFG AT KO2 at stock ride height is a bad idea... can anyone confirm if I'll have to trim or remove mud flaps?
