Hey all new on here and searched a little found this thread and had some questions.....
Currently looking to get either a 3rd Gen or 4th gen 4runner. I've found one of each local I want to look at. The 3rd Gen is a stock 2002 original owner SR5 4X4 with 100k and the guy wants around 8k for it no prof of any maintenance etc. But looks to be in good shape.
The 4th gen is 2004 a SR5 v8 4x4 with 160k on it listed for 9k has a 3 inch toytec lift and some wheels and tires mostly stock has some maintenance records(timing belt, brakes etc) 3rd owner.
Both have clean carfax reports I'm leaning towards the 4th as I think with it being a little newer the creature comforts might be a little nicer but can't get past the 160k miles vs the 100k. Any input from you all would be awesome hope to be in a 4runner shortly.
Thanks
Chris
I would go with the 4th gen hands down. It has a lot of life left and you know whats been done to it. I don't like buying a car without records because I feel like I should replace all fluids, filters, and belts. With the 4th gen already having a lift, it saves you a lot of time and money later on if you want to build it. The 4th gens are also way more comfortable. I have a friend with a 3rd gen and I don't think I could sit in it for more than an hour. You will LOVE the sound and power of the V8, its a huge difference over the 3rd gen. Good Luck, and let us know what you decide on.
