New Updates on the box: It shifts very slightly from time to time, but only very slightly. The box itself is quiet as a mouse, but the stuff inside can knock/bang if I go over a big bump or around a corner too fast. I've been thinking of adding some padding to the bottom of the drawers to avoid this, but not sure it would e worth it at this point. All in all it has been a great investment since it keeps all my cargo nice and organized and tucked away.
Those of you that have the double decker system already know this, but the cargo cover/slide is relatively useless with the shelf in the up position because it doesn't leave much space for things to sit on the shelf. I ended up selling mine because I always have the shelf up for the box and I have my back windows tinted, so you can't see in there anyway.

*Update*
Its been about 6 months so I figured I'd post another update on the cargo system. I added padding on the inside of the drawers but still though I heard stuff bumping when I'd go over speed bumps and whatnot.
Come to find out it was actually the lid bouncing open & closing (the one flaw with this design). I've since rectified the issue by putting rubber stoppers on the underside of the lid and running a bungee through the lid handle and looped around each of the drawer pull handles to keep it secure while driving. It is still very easy to access the lid/opening from the window, I just pop the bungee off to open the lid. Since adding the bungee, the lid never opens when going over bumps and the contents never move, since they are packed in there pretty well. So, it is functional and perfectly quiet. :biggrin2:

is it anchored in the back in any way or does the top shelf keep it from tipping with the drawers pulled out?

Thanks for the compliments! The box itself is not anchored down at all. The weight of the box and locking double decker shelf keeps the box from moving around.

Hey AWESOME build. I was wondering what you used for your drawers to slide out on. Rollers of some sort or just drawers sliding on frame? I literally went out a few hours ago measuring and got almost the exact measurements you posted earlier in the thread haha. Im just going to make mine 12in total height to accomodate some of my needs better.

I'll post the measurements here for everyone instead of mailing them. I have rough drawings too, but I'm not sure those would be much help to anyone but me since its all chicken scratch.

When we were at the dealer, I thought the double decker system was one of the coolest things. Then, I realized that it's not all that practical or functional for the things that I carried on a regular basis. This was part of the motivation of this project. Now, the top shelf is more level, so the things I put up there don't slide off.
Sure, if you're ever in St. Louis and have a weekend to spend in the garage we can work something out. Seriously though, if there is anyone local to the StL that is interested in something like this I'm happy to give them a hand. Maybe I can find someone that is more mechanically inclined than me to help install my lift and I can repay the favor by building them a cargo box :naughty:
Hardy Har funny guy, we'll see what Calgary can bring tomorrow night here in StL. So far you've done pretty well against us this year since Kipper is a Blues killer. Now that we have a better coach we might see a little something different.

Just drawers sliding on frame for now. I have considered beefing it up and adding drawer sliders, but there doesn't really seem to be a point to that since it works just fine the way it is. I've also considered removing the DD shelf all together and making a larger unit for more capacity, but haven't really needed anymore room than I already have, yet...
Yep, disc golf is pretty big here in St. Louis. During the Spring/Summer/Fall I run a league and a couple tournaments. I don't get out to play so much during the winter because the days are so short, but at least I still have the weekends
The lip on the flip up lid just so happens to be the size of a 12 pack, so I can keep one there and it doesn't fall off or slide around.

I always go to Home Depot for building materials and tools. They offer MDF in full 4'x8' sheets as well as 2'x4' half sheets
The Lowes around me seem to cater more to interior design than construction/building. We usually only go there if we're looking for things like lighting fixtures, curtain rods or drawer pull handles, etc.
