4th Gen E7019 Accuracy

I recently installed an E7019 in my 4th gen 4runner and love it all except for a few minor things. The biggest nag is that the majority of my locations are off by just a little bit. When I am at home the Nav has my address at the end of the street ( a few houses down), but the GPS Compass coordinates (Lat. & Long.) are exact matches for my home. Also things like work addresses are off but only by a few numbers/ a little distance on the map screen. Any ideas what this is from/ a fix or is this just a shortcoming of the OEM Nav units?

Thanks for any and all input!

Couple of possible remedies:

1) I know there is a "re-calibrate" position feature on the NAV. Not sure what screen you can do this on. I can check back if you want....

2) Do you have a new(er) DVD disk? YOu have a Gen5 NAV, so you can purchase a quality DVD from here (although this may not help, but it's my understanding that the system re-boots itself when a new DVD is inserted: Toyota 4Runner Items for Sale This is where I get mine.

3) Try unconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Reconnect and NAV screen will "reboot".

4) IF all this fails, read: LINK: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/engin...em-nav-calibration-problems-2.html#post210676

5) Live with it. My father's RX300 (2001 model year) always had problems reading where we were in our neighborhood. Anywhere else, the position was perfect.

Hope this helps!

Hey, I am sorry I can't offer any advise to your question, but I am wanting to install a factory GPS in my 2003 limited 4runner. Did you encounter any problems with your install? will any of the more current model factory units fit ok? I know I would have to work around the JBL amplifier that mine has. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
