4th gen exhaust headers.

I was looking at exhaust headers today for my v6, to compliment my gibson cat-back which I'm ordering, and I'm having a little bit of trouble locating one. I found a good looking one for the older. 3.6L v6, but non for any newer 4runners.

What have you guys found?

I'm running the 2nd gen dtlt. Very good headers. Just go to urd and pick up a set.

Off topic but are you sure Toyota put a 3.6L into a 4runner. I thought the only engine options in the 4th gen were 4.0L and 4.7L

I thinking he's referring to the 5VZ which is in the 3rd gen 4runner. 4th gen have the 1GR and 2UZ in the states, else where they had more engine options, both gas and diesel.

Ok that makes more sense, I was just curious if maybe there was a different engine option when Toyota first introduced the 4th gen kinda like how the 5th gen had the option of a 4cyl when it first came out.

In Japan you could get a 4th gen with a 2tr (150ish bhp) other options, in addition to the 1GR and 2UZ, were diesel engines.

That would be horrible in such a large SUV and I can't imagine it would be that much more fuel efficient seeing as it would have to work twice as hard.

2UZ's had some performance support back in the day. TRD had a roots style supercharger for the 2UZ but it had a history of snapping connecting rods and TRD didn't want to spend the money to look into boosting it with the VVTi (it's easy to get around that) and be liable for more engine failures, very similar as to why they refuse to release the 1GR supercharger to the 4Runner. There was also a Rotex supercharger but that was a one off due to many 'communication breakdowns'. This is one of the reason's I went with a 1GR 4Runner vs a 2UZ one, the performance aftermarket. Also since I'm a minority here, the majority of people (think 99%) don't buy a 4Runner for performance, it does get hard to find parts and support you want/need in order to accomplish set goals, so I went with a easy path. I have also seen a couple of 2UZ equipped supras running twin turbos with built engines, but they spend alot to get them there.

I love your set-ups Skyline, and to a degree you're right... most of us aren't buying our 4Runners for performance per say.

I bought the v8 for the torque and power, but I wasn't concerned with 0-60 times. Just a different kind of performance.

And honestly? If you're going to be supercharging an engine... you should be strengthening the bottom end anyways!

Kinda resurrecting this thread... Would a mechanic/dealership install a header for me? Since they require cutting of the cat converter, i didn't know if that voided the warranty.

Anyone who has put one on?

If you don't get long tubes then run a test pipe from the end of the header to the flange. If you do that you'll need to have a rear O2 sim.

The ones I linked are shorties right? Are there any headers out there where I don't need to buy an O2 sim.?
