So I was waiting for the paint to dry on my FJ Cruiser TRD centercaps and I decided to see if the exhaust tip from my 4th gen would fit on my 2000. And guess what! It did! I suggest every one goes out and finds a 4th gen tip, cus it looks pretty good. What do you think?

The last pic is how the 4th gen looks now, lol.

I agree, this looks thrown on and thus kinda aftermarket. Also seems to stick out too much.

Does anyone have any pics of welded on tips on a 3rd gen? I would like to see it because I think it would have to be modified to fit with that hanger about 6 inches from the end of the tailpipe.

Im new here so Im sorry I cant help, but Im sure someone will. IVe never welded on just tips tho. If Im going to do it, I either look for a high flow muffler or do a whole catback.

I have a very similar one, I took it from a trade in 4Runner so it might even be the same. It has the same clamp thingy

Looks good I think, better than a little tiny pipe the 4 cyl has.

Here is the mount I am talking about, this tip has a cut out that fits just right around it.

Good Idea I did this last month myself. I think it looks good!

EDIT: It looks just like the tacoma exhaust tips. I used one of those on my Tundra years ago

about my 4runner

It doesn't look bad, but I prefer full length tips that are welded on. I don't like to see any part of the old exhaust.

Sup man, im from hartsville, SC and have a bunch of friends that go to Clemson. I have pretty much the same 4runner. I have 99 white 4runner limited with duratracs, brushguard on the front with fog lights, i have ski racks on the top of mine. im just messin around not trying to spend a bunch of money but i wanted a little sound but dont want to have to do a bunch of handling and welding underneath. will the exhaust tip make any change in the sound at all?

Not noticeably. If you're looking to stay cheap I'd just replace the muffler. Alot of people run flowmaster, magnaflow, cherrybomb, etc. Take your pic... just make sure you do your research beforehand because they each sound a little different. Even in my case I waited & researched a bunch, got a Magnaflow 14" & its just not aggressive enough for my tastes so I'll be probably be switching out to a Flowmaster 40 or glasspack sometime soon. If you know anybody with an exhaust on their V6 Tacoma or 4runner, getting an idea of what you want from their sound is probably the best way to do it.

This may be a ridiculous question... My OEM exhaust tip appears to be welded on. Why would Toyota sell OEM clamp-on tips if cutting off the old tip is a requirement? I would understand if the original was a clamp-on.
