4th Gen Headlight Swap/Upgrade?

I apologize if this question has already been answered in a different thread, I haven't been able to find it. I have a 2005 SR5 4WD V8. I'm interested in swapping out my stock headlights with the projector version found on the '06-'09's. The '03-'05's headlights come down to a point in the bottom corner near the grill. Where as the newer 4th Gen lights have that small "Cut out" in that same bottom corner. Not only do I like the look of these newer ones better, but I would also like the upgrade to projector light housings. The small trim piece below the headlights will also have to be switched out, of course. But my question is: Can this even be done?? Is it a direct swap out; or will the newer ones not fit/mount up properly? If anyone has any insight on this topic, I would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks everyone.

Let me search for that for you:

PERFECT! Thank you! You guys rock. I don't know why I couldn't find it. (Rookie error. LOL)

I read in his post that he had hazy, yellowing lights. If you guys ever have this problem, get a little thing of Mother's Aluminum Polish from AutoZone or somewhere. Then hit the lights with that stuff and a power buffer. Takes just 2-3 minutes and they will come out looking BRAND NEW. I've done it to both of my '05 4Runners and it's dang near MAGIC!

Thanks for the recommendation. I actually just upgraded my bulbs 2 days ago (yay, no more yellow lights!!) and need to hit the lenses again due to hazing. I have the Meguiar’s headlight restoration kit which works pretty good but the hazing came back shortly after. I’ll have to try this stuff this time around.

Edit: the search engine for this site is kinda broken, it don’t work well. Use google. I usually put “4th gen 4runner” followed by whatever I’m looking for. The results are much better.

I've got an extra set of housings I picked up for my '06 if anyone needs them for a swap project. They're pretty clear (minimal hazing) but have some kind of deep scratches on one (I'm guessing they lived on a gravel road or something).

I don't know if anyone has tried just swapping out the guts (moving the projectors into your housings) but these would be great for that project.

I haven't bothered to put them the 4-sale page yet. Let me know if anyone is interested.
