4th gen horns on a 3rd gen

I found a set of 4th gen horns in the classifieds for a good price and decided to give them a try. Turns out the connectors on my 3rd gen plug right in but since the horns are larger I'm going to have to modify one of the brackets. I know there are better sounding horns out there but my love for toyota parts swayed me this direction.

I'm not sure which 4th gen horn is the high tone or low tone so does it matter which side I mount them? I'm thinking it wont but just double checking.

No difference at all. Unless you have bionic ears.

All questions were answered this morning when I installed them.

I have a 99 grill on my 96 which provided enough space for the horns to fit. Other grills may fit as well but I cant say for sure.

Tools used:
Needle nose pliers
Standard pliers
12mm wrench
12mm socket
Flathead screwdriver
Wire brush


I took a pic of where to push your grill clips downward for easy removal (ppl seem to have trouble with these clips) It's not a great pic but hopefully you get the idea.
