4th Gen: How did you plug the holes in the wheel well?

Hey whoever started this thread deserves a gold star!
I noticed the holes after my first offroading trip with mud shooting into the engine bay.
In the K&N filter thread I warned people that the hole would shoot water straight into the filter.
The only solution I had was some tape so this is great to have some nice clean rubber grommets!

Gave the dealer parts dept the number and they did not have any in stock, they ordered them and they quoted $3.00 per plug. Was yours $.85 for the quoted part number from a dealer? What is your dealers name and location? I have not picked mine up yet and will further question the price.

BTW ... has anyone blocked up the numerous gaps in the front right fender? There facing forward and seem to be supplying air to the air intake system. As I've replaced the factory air intake with the K&N Aircharger, I wonder if I can block those holes up too as there is much more air available around the cone filter. What do you think?

My Toyota dealship is stupid to charge me $3.00 each for my 2 plugs. That cost them all of my service business. I will now do my own service or have a local garage do it. The oil/filter change looks too easy to not do myself (don't even need to jack the truck up to do it) and I will do the lube and diff's/transfer case at the local garage. I figure that little $2.70 over charge cost them several hundred dollars over the next few years.

How's this.....I broke my Sienna's mirror again (don't ask, really stupid) so I go to my local dealer and he gives me the price of ~$262. And then after I tell him what happened and that I just replaced it 2 months ago he says he can be a nice guy and give me 10% off, all said with taxes it was $250. I go to partznet this weekend and get it from them for $177!!!!!!!!!
That is $75!!!!! And I'm sure Partznet is still making a good profit. It pays to shop aroung when your talking Toyota parts.

I think I read the same thread. Maybe Ian startd it. But anyway when I went and asked about the different part #'s they said the one superceded the other or something like that. If you get any definitive answers on this subject I'd love to hear them. Please keep us posted.

Yeah, I will. I think I like the idea of a check valve fiter, unless I hear something to the contrary.
That's another good thing about doing biz with somebody [Partznet] you trust - you pretty well eliminate the occasional dingbat who gives you the wrong part....or worse yet, acts like they know something they don't.
Kinda like taking [driving] directions from a girl! I feel like I'm lost every turn I take! I think I'm still a little traumatized from driving in New York City last week! Wotatrip! :wtf: [the w is for "where!"]

Why not use some Silicone caulking?? Should be easy to apply to fill in the holes and remove if necessary.
