I'm looking to dig in and replace my LBJ, ITRE,& OTRE but can find a write-up or info in the 4th gen.( looks different than the 3rd gen. writ-ups) I'm mainly concerned about the LBJ. I got the Haynes manual but it doesn't show it because when it was written you had to buy the whole LCA to get a new LBJ. Anybody have any info for me? Thanks in advance.

honestly its not worth trying to do the LBJ and bushings in our LCAs. its so much easier and a whole lot less time to just bolt a new LCA in.
i think there are a few guys who have done the LBJ and have it semi laid out how in their build threads.

It's a pain to do them because you're not supposed to replace them from a factory standpoint. So you need to find a LBJ removal/installation kit that happens to have spacers that will somewhat work. Then you want to find a unit that will last a while and do well (I ended up with an AC Delco replacement that got good reviews because the MOOG units seemed not to last well).
The only reason I rebuilt mine was because I had a set of Tacoma LCAs I had scavenged for free and could take all the time I needed to rebuild them. I also went with poly-urethane bushings and all new LCA bolts, cams, and sleeves (also coated in anti-seize when installing to mitigate seizing/rusting up). They've held up well, but it was no small feat to burn/press the old bushings out, install the new bushings, ect.

I did my lbjs. It wasn't too bad. There is a writeup here some where. Just need to use search function. I have inner and out tres and lca bushings. Just haven't found time or really true need to do them. Only advice I can give is that I used a 3 foot steel pipe as a cheater bar. It make life so much easier. Those lbjs can really store up a lot of potential energy before they pop loose though. Autozone has the lbj press and you also need to rent the advance press kit too. Has all the sizes you need. I used moog and it worked great.

Thanks for the info. I've done quite a few searches but haven't come up with anything for the 4th gen. I went to get an alignment after changing out the wheels and they told me my inner tie rod ends and LBJ were too warn to do it. I've got the TREs ready to swap out. Now just tryinh to decide if I can tackle the LBJ. I'll see if I can find that write up. Thanks again!

Thanks! After a couple hours searching last night I did find the Toyota120 link but I didn't see the other one. I will take a look. I'm going to tackle this. I'm going to soak everything in Some PB Blaster a couple times before I actually do it. Should I avoid getting PB Blaster anywhere?

No you should be good. Except it mell aweful. Honestly wd-40 might be just as good. I think pb blaster has a lot of hype behind it. The lbj is pretty simple. Do your self a favor and but a 3 foot cheater pipe at lowes. Hands down the number one tool in my garage. And I don't even live in the rust belt.
