4th Gen: Need Advice for FJ Suspension Swap

You'll need to modify both the shock and mounting point I believe. I've got the info saved on my computer, ill post it when i get home.

Here you go. This is for the 2010 shocks, unsure is 2011's are the same (I think they are, just not 100% sure). Also, I'd highly advise trying to find a set of FJ springs to swap in with the shocks.

You can use your OEM mount kit for the front.
Warning: The 2010 front FJC strut's lower joint needs to be modified in order to fit your TR4.
The rear mounting hole (on the chasis) also need to be enlarged to fit the larger bushing washer. It can be done with some power tools.

I paid $200 for a 2010 almost brand new set of Tokicos with springs.

I don't think you have any problems if you get some helps from your buddy. All you need is an electric or air grinder to sand down the thickness of the buckeyes (Lower part of the front shock where it connects to the chasis). I've to grind it down from 41mm to 39mm. Also, you need a drill with a cone bit to enlarge the mounting holes on the rear chasis for the rear shocks.
BTW, use a long prybar as a leverage when working with the front. This is a one man job and I was manage to get it done in less than 3 hrs with profesional tools and a lift. Good luck

Thanks for the info. The reason for using the FJ O/R Pkg Bilstein's only and not springs is to replace worn and leaky X-REAS shocks. The shocks came from my 2011 FJ that is receiving a mild suspension upgrade. The 4Runner is our all weather vehicle and a great one it is. It's never missed a beat during our snowy winters.

Shocks will help, but adding FJ springs will do even more to improve the ride. Almost everyone you see ranting and raving about the ride swapped the coils. Myself, I swapped coils only and saw a huge difference in ride quality. You can find the coils for cheap online (if you're patient). For something that'll cost you less than $100 and the fact that you're already going to be swapping stuff out anyway, there's no way I'd do that without changing the springs as well. That's just my opinion though.
