4th Gen Options To Replace Seized Calipers... Tundra? (Yes, another caliper thread..)

Just did brakes all around with Advance auto parts front fenco reman caliper, Wagner rotors and pads. All with lifetime warranty, never will have to pay for brakes again as long as own the truck and have the receipt.

I picked up a Fenco remanf caliper this weekend too. Hope it does the trick, it was only $75 compared to the $130 NAPA wanted. AAP was open while Napa was closed and I wanted the T4R done so I didn't have a choice. Both are Toyota castings and both have a lifetime warranty so not sure what the difference is...

Welp, Looks like I'm the next one up to the plate! lucky me. Driver side caliper is freezing up. Shakes the truck pretty bad at times and pulls off to the left a little. It was also pretty obvious when I saw the steam coming up from the wheel while I was driving in the rain yesterday. Both front calipers were replaced 1 year and 8 months ago (aprox 35K on em) Luckily the dealership did it for PA inspection at the time just before I bought it. Heading over to toyota in a few mins after work... wish me luck :tsk:

I cant believe not one member has put tundra brakes on a 4th gen. I read a ton of info on this and assumed it was for the 4th, only to reread those threads and realize they where all 3rd gens. Im doing the tundra upgrade (if its possible) on my 4th, Ive been planning this for a long time. Look for a thread in regards to the upgrade if I successfully do it. Give me about a month to get my ducks in a row. Wish me luck.

That is because all 4th gens already come from the factory with the "Tundra brake upgrade".

1st gen Tundras use the same exact 13WG and 13WL calipers in the front as 4th gens.

Ill ask sum of the techs over there and see what they think. I doubt they'll be much help tho, Dealership guys don't wana redesign anything, their brains are wired to R&R with OEM.

Wish I had more time to play with this Tundra idea. But this things my DD so I gotta get her moving

Didn't see ur post [MENTION=94968]RunnerAK[/MENTION] until after I posted. That's interesting info. Might not be a whole hell of lot we can do about this issue other then keep the pins lubed every other service and keep an eye on em. Very annoying that's for sure!

Question, I'm thinking my driver caliper is seizing, pulls strongly to right especially on hard braking, truck has 148k. I know by the online records the right was replaced at 92. Should I just replace the one on both since the right has over 50k on it?

For calipers, you can safely replace only the seized side if you want. Rotors and pads should always be changed on both sides at the same time though.

With that said, I replaced both calipers on our '07 when only one was seized for peace of mind.

Well, I am thinking of doing this. My front is pulling to the left under 30-40% braking.

I will be the Guinea pig for this one I guess.

Thanks for all the great info here - was in a jam and had to make a fast decision, so ended up going Napa (liked the lifetime parts warranty). Specifically went with the coated (black) Adaptive One calipers and Adaptive One pads. Also went with the Napa Ultra Premium coated rotors. The only issue was that my year (2007 LTD) has 2 different rotor sizes? (12.5 and 13.25), something to be aware of. Mine was the 13.25. Maybe the rears are smaller, that would make more sense. $400 after core including a gallon of brake fluid. Only a few hundred miles in but so far so good!
