I'm looking at getting a 2004 4runner with 129,00 miles. Are there any specific things I should look out for, or any big scheduled maintenance that should have been done? They're asking $13,800, which seems good. I'm in the Vancouver, BC area. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

If its a V8, ask if the timing belt has been replaced. Due at 90k.

It's a V6 so no problem there.

Paid $13,800 for my 2004 V8 sport. Don't know too much about the V6's heard there are occasional problems with the head gasket which is typically isolated to one cylinder. Can't remember which one...

How's the whole rust situation out there.

the head gasket issue is a hoax.

i have a 2004 with 130,XXX miles on it and i havnt done a thing to it other then the usual (brakes, oil changes, yada yada) and it still runs practically new. now granted i live in the desert, with no worries about salt or snow or anything like that. but hey, i have dust.... :/

Check to be sure your 4Lo actuator isn't seized! Had this issue on mine, was from disuse by previous owner. Cost $2300 with discounts to replace at Toyota. If it does work, keep it working by using it monthly.
