4th Gen Sport 4x4 Urban Edition!

So I sold my 2000 SR5 4x4 151k last week. I only owned since april, she was clean! It was the 1st one I ever owned. I just kept obsessing the 4th gen body so that's brings me to the present.

I just found 2008 4x4 Sport "Urban Edition" v6 135k The carfax is insane it list $2000+ value because of all the service records. Oil changes every 4k miles. Hopefully the price was fair, it seemed like based on my research.

1st time I've even heard of the "Urban Edition" ..Would love some feedback on this 4runner

So what's the final price. I mean everything they listed you could of done yourself as most do when they buy used cars to "reset" the maintenence intervals. The 3rd Gen is a slug, but it's a tank. You will enjoy the upgrade but miss the truckness of the old one. But either way you can't go wrong and both have demons- pink milkshake vs head gasket. I digress though- current 2 pics look good, but only a test drive will tell.

$13k with service records sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Looks clean. The radio/TomTom nav system is a little dated but I have gotten use to mine in my 09 Trail Edition which borrowed that system. I too had a 3rd gen and gave it to my son and got a 4th gen. Gotta tell ya man....I still love the 3rd gen. I tell him every time I get in it that it drives better than my 09.

The only thing about the Urban Runners is the front seat seems to start cracking/ripping on the seems. My runner looked just like yours when I bought it. I have had zero issues other than the seat which I fixed with a set of Clazzio's. I really like my 4th Gen.

Also as an added backup check you should crossreference the vin number to the toyota website vin lookup. Once you do that and it feels safe I'd personally pull the trigger.

I agree it's a steal. That vehicle would sell for $17K here in Colorado in about 3 days.

Pretty sure this is correct. I also had an 08 white Urban Runner and I regret getting rid of it. The PO had done all the cluster/needles/buttons in white and blue LEDs, JVC head unit, black leather upgrade and lift. I did some performance upgrades and went with a larger wheel/tire setup and other small things. My favorite T4R so far.

Don't worry I'm getting it! I already have cashier check in hand! flying down tomorrow. They have it on hold for me.

I used the Toyota maintenance site and read through all the service in detail.
Had a check engine light on one time and it was a loose gas cap, lol

Who ever owned it before was anal. One service @79k said customer states 4runner rides rough in rear and request two new rear shocks (customer pay)

That's a great price and it's good to know about all the past service! That's whats going to keep it going to over 200k-300k in the long run.

I bought mine 3 years ago with 70k on it and certified and all that bs for $20k out the door. Here's the the thing when i first bought it i loved it and all the extra's the Urban runner had to offer , the limited wheels,sport features,seat etc but over the the last few years i ended up changing and upgrading all of those things anyways. If i would of known i was going get bit by the 4x4 mod bug i would of just bought a sport addition and done all the same things and saved myself the extra $5k-$6k in the end. So if you plan on keep a majority of the things it comes with then i would definitely grab it up, I think they are the nicest looking of all the 4th gens but if you plan on doing a lot of the things as i did you could get a regular sport and save yourself a few bucks:thumb3:


Also with what [MENTION=127820]LOBO79[/MENTION] said about the front seats (especially the driver) it has been a common problem with the Urban runners for that leather to crack and split, usually on the outer part of the seat. Something to keep an eye on, maybe you can pick up some type of protectant or conditioner and use it from time to time to prevent this from happening? I think that is why most of us with Urban runners all have Clazzio seat covers haha..

I got a 2008 Urban Runner with 91,000 miles on it for $17,500. I have added a Toytec Ultimate lift and a set of 275/70/18 Bfg KO2's, Clazzio set covers, and WeatherTech floor mats. I live in the Statesville area.

Looked at your pictures. Looks great! Just saw you had seat covers.

How are you liking your 4runner? I owned a 3rd gen for about 6 months. I liked it but I wanted more cushy and roomy ride.

Ok so then the Urban runner will be great for you! I would definitely get it, because they go fast to! I remember when i was looking i was first looking at a white one and waited until the weekend to see it and it was gone. Oh but that's right you said you had them hold it, so your good then..
