However, for the track arm bushings, anything special you might know about replacing these bushings on the track (panhard). I assume I don't need to jack the rear up - just keep it level, unscrew the two bolts on each end, torque to specs?

Haven't heard of anyone replacing the bushings, although there have been a few who put on an adjustable track bar after the lift. I believe you'll need the rear jacked up with jackstands under the frame and axle at full droop before removing the panhard bar.

i have the opportunity to buy a slightly used Revtek lift kit off an early FJ, its a 3/2 kit. Would this lift me more because it was meant for the FJ? Would i net the same height as it shows or more because im a 4runner?

Its really cheap so thats why im considering.

Revtek lists the same part number for the 4th gen 4runner and 07-09 FJ. The part number for the 2010+ FJ is different. The rear spacer is listed as 2 1/8" for the 2010+ vs 2 1/2" for the 07-09, I'm guessing that's the reason for the different part number. I don't know of any reason the 2010+ kit wouldn't fit the 4th gen 4runner.

I have a 06 limited V8 and want to do a slight lift. If i get fj springs..do i order the bilstein 5100's for the tr4 or FJ? Are there any modifications needed if the bilstein's are for the tr4? Also this is all new to me with the TR4. Do i need spacers? for the front only or both?

Do you have XREAS? If so you'll want to keep that in consideration. There are details in the first post of this thread describing how to tell if you have it.

The 5100's for a 2003-2009 4runner and 2007-2009 FJ should be the same part number so it shouldn't matter which you order. You can enter your 4runner in and place the order, and they'll work fine with the FJ coils.

By spacers do you mean lift spacers or wheel spacers? Both would be optional. The 5100's are adjustable for lift on the front, but if you wanted to run them at the higher settings you'll probably want a lift spacer for the rear (Daystar 1.5" runs about $40 and is most popular). Wheel spacers can be added to widen the stance, but not required.

Had the track bar bushings, front and rear sway bar bushings, and the rear sway bar end link bushings replaced (per the link above) - Not sure if it was the sway bar bushings or the track bar, but which ever one - it completely fixed the clunking from the rear. The ride also feels smoother and solid, and no more clunking that was driving me crazy. thanks again for the suggestion.

I beleive you had mentioned that the prefferable shocks from an FJ were the TRD ones vs. the regular Tokiko or did you mean the regular Bilsteins that are now used on them? I have an opportunity to buy either a set of springs and Bilstein OEM shocks from a 2012 (I know there will be some "fitting") or some of the orange TRD Bilsteins and springs from and earlier FJ.

The difference between the parts you're putting together and the "kit" is the front coils and the diff drop (which you don't need). I've never seen the numbers on the coils included in that kit. If you've got a v6, the 885's should give you around 3" lift with the bumper. I don't think you will need the top plate spacers for 3" lift, but I could be wrong as I have no experience with that particular setup.

Thanks. A couple of milimeters is easily dealt with. In the past I have gone so far as to weld on the fitting of my choice to different shocks to make them work. I would consider this to be compatible part.

FJ coils from 07+ will work. However, only shocks from a 07-09 will be a direct swap. Make sure the coils come from a 4wd FJ.

OEM FJ Springs:
• Springs from a 2007+ FJ Cruiser are a direct swap to the 4th Gen 4runner.
• Shocks from a 2007-2009 FJ are a direct swap. Shocks from a 2010+ require some minor modification to fit. Details on the modifications can be found in this thread.
• These provide on average ½”-1” lift on the front, ¼”- ½” lift on the rear, depending on if you have a v6 or v8 engine and 2wd or 4wd.
• Most people buy them used from FJ owners who’ve upgraded

correct me where im wrong. i dont want spacers cuz their not ideal for offroading, or are they ok to an extent. i want no more than 3" of lift so i dont have to modify other stuff. ithink bilstein 5100s are the way to get there and possibly fc coils. whats the most cost effective way to get to 2.5-3" with still having good ride, off road handling, etc. can i do 5100s on stock coils, what height would that be, there are different model 5100s for each model truck, do i get the ones for my year 4runner. all i do know for sure is i want 2.5-3" of lift and a cost effective way to get there without having inadequate parts(spacer lift).. i believe i will be running 265/70/17. thanks in advance.

Spacer lifts are fine for mild off road use. Spacers will lift your rig and give you more clearance. The limitation is that they do not provide any additional flex, as do aftermarket options.

The 5100's are longer than stock shocks so you have better flex and more travel which means better performance off road.

If you go with the 5100's, just get the ones for the 2003-2009 4runner. The front will be adjustable from 0"-2.5" lift. For a low budget setup, I'd go with the 5100's, fronts set at 2.5", and a Daystar 1.5" rear spacer. This setup should run under $400.

If you want closer to 3" lift, consider adding FJ coils. You could also add a small top plate spacer, such as the 1/4" spacer Toytec sells.

I've ordered from all these companies before, no complaints. You may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere, but these have very good prices and I know they're legit.
