4th gen transmission swap

I'm planning on building a crawling specific 4th gen 4runner, and wanted to remove the hot, smooth shifting A340 for something a little stronger, and upgradeable, and have lots of choices for really low t-cases.

I'm not afraid of a some work, but don't really want to have to mess with the computer at all. so i was thinking and older, overdrive 700r4 from a chevy truck. i can get an adapter plate from LCE performance to adapt my 1GR-FE to a chevy tranny.

I know i'd have to hook up the kickdown cable from the transmission to the shifter, and i'd have to install that reluctor ring onto the transmission or the transfer case somewhere. And also will the truck even run without the tranny conectors plugged in, or will it just give me some check engine lights?

I think you're going to have problems with the ECM not getting proper signals from the trans.
A kick down cable goes from the trans to the throttle cable at the carb or throttle body (on older vehicles). Most newer vehicles don't even have a throttle cable, it's electronic (drive by wire).
What t-case do you plan on using with the 700R4?

Will the truck still run? Or just check engine lights? And that's what I thought about the kickdown cable but wasn't sure. Shouldn't there be a place on the throttle body to put the cable even though its a drive by wire? I was thinking a NP203/Dana 300 doubler using advanced adapters 700r4 output shft, or just using a TH400(cheaper and easyer to find.)
