4th gen v8 muffler replacement decision

dodder

I'm looking to change my muffler out with a drone free muffler with some grunt to it. I plan on starting with just the muffler and leaving the stock resonator. After everything burns in, if I want louder Ill cut it off.

My questions is pertaining to muffler inlet/outlet configuration. I want the Dynomax VT muffler, the only problem is they do not have a center inlet/offest outlet 2.5 in configuration. The have a 3". This basically means Ill either have to use the 3" and risk the flow change or stick with the 2.5" and go with a offset-offset config. Curious if anyone has any thoughts/experience on what I should do? Or am I making a big deal out of the small details.

Sounds like you're making it a bigger deal than it is. I put on a Magnaflow.....absolutely love it....drone free, sounds even better than a month later. Resonator still on.

If I were you guys, I'd just remove the resonator. It looks pretty ugly back there and most guys who take it off notice no difference in sound. Just my personal opinion anyway. I have the Gibson cat back exhaust and I love it.

I have the Dynomax VT and the muffler shop had no trouble adapting the 3" inlet/outlet into my factory system at all. I need to ditch the resonator though, not that it'll do much...but it's just ugly.
