4th gen wheel bearing death

Hey there. Here are some pics of my front wheel bearing. They crapped out at around 70k-ish IIRC. I changed them a few years ago and finally was able to get access to a press to separate the hubs. I'm thinking of keeping and re-using the hubs next time I have to do front bearings (hopefully that wont be for a good long while). The bearings came apart when I pressed them, and am able to get a look at the innards. Is the reddish color rust like I think it is?? I felt like these bearing went out a little soon, and if water had gotten in, then that would seem to explain things. What say you good folks of the T4R??

Looks like water got in there to me. I replace lots of bearings at my work, some on outdoor equipment, and the outside failed ones usually look like that and have moisture in them.
