4th Gens in the snow

Escaped from the horrors of mammoth storm central! Dropped down in elevation to get out of the nasty and play. Gorgeous eve looking east outta the Sierras toward nv

Today!

I plan on picking up my 2007 with 60k miles on it today in the wonderful MassSnow!! Super pumped and hoping for decent weather so my ride will take me to pick it up! ha

Well wasn't too long of a wait :D My 06 has done really well with the 8" of snow we got this past weekend.
 
Got to drive my 4runner in the snow for the first time since I bought it. So much better than my Mustang! Picture was as the snow became freezing rain.

Anyone ever left traction control on and tried to spin out deliberately? My girlfriend and daughter think im stupid and laugh at me everytime it wins, but I am determined to trick it. Of course with it off you can spin out/do what you want, but leave it on and try, its incredible how good it is. I have made a game out of it and have yet to win. :redbrick:

I've found that it interferes a lot more in 2WD than 4WD. I was actually able to get some sideways action going in 4WD and it didn't kick in till I let off the gas. In 2WD as soon as it slips it cuts power and puts me straight.

That said, yeah. I've been super impressed by how well it puts the truck on the right trajectory.

Im all wheel drive, so that likley is working against me too :rofl:
 
I never really though it was super great. I pulled out of my driveway once with snow on the ground on the dirt road, accelerating faster than I should of and it immediately oversteered way right, I corrected with a sharp left and hit the breaks and I slid into the left ditch at 5mph. Don't even remember if traction control turned on. I also hate the abs in the snow. Once it engages stopping time takes forever, but maybe that is better than letting you lock up the tires and loosing steering?

Locking the center diff or engaging 4lo disable most nannies for you to have fun.

I've found that lifting off the gas and letting the traction control sort it out works best. Hitting the brakes is gonna keep the TC system from doing its job since it uses the brakes but can actually apply each individually from what I understand.

Also, sometimes the best solution is to countersteer and mat the gas to pull you straight ;)
