I am looking for anyone in the Castle Rock, CO or Denver, CO area that has a 4th Generation 4Runner with a stock navigation unit that is willing to become a test subject for an audio/video integration unit.
To give you some background, a company in Castle Rock, CO called VAIS Technology has developed a true plug and play audio/visual integration system for stock navigation systems. The company specializes in Toyota/Lexus, but have focused primarily on Lexus for the last couple year as many of the founders own Lexus'. As of now they have had tremendous success with various Lexus models and are now looking to begin working with Toyotas. The company has told me that they would like to begin testing Toyotas sometime during the 2nd quarter of 2005.
This company has been developing audio/video integration systems for a long time now and are starting to come out with some really crazy stuff. In addition to their audio/visual integration units, the company also produces ipod and xm radio integration units that allow you to use your existing controls (both on the head unit and on the steering wheel) to control the auxilary device. Also, these devices are completely plug and play and use factory Toyota connectors and harnesses, which means no splicing whatsoever.
Take a look at their site and let me know if you are interested. They need a person with navi already to test out the integration between their unit and the stock Toyota unit. I would totally volunteer my ride, only I live in Las Vegas and don't know how I'd get my car out there. But if it really needs to be done, I'll do it -- I just think it'll be easier and quicker if I find a contact to work with out there.
