4wd indicator doesn't stop flashing

hey guys this is my first 4runner and first 4x4 as well, my question is about the 4wd light indicator in dashboard, when i drive in H or L with 4WD button pushed in the light indicator never stops flashing, unless i push center diff lock button, is this normal?? '02 t4r 4wd sport ed

When you are in Drive, and you put it in 4wd and it flashes, try putting the 4R in Reverse for a few feet, it usually does the trick.

mine usually kicks in after taking a corner, 4wd is not engaged when light is flashing, slow down give the wheels a little turn also the reverse thing will work too, i just prefer to keep moving and do it on the fly, it works by centrifugal forces to engage so keep that in mind while trying to get it to work.

well i had try going reverse or turning the wheels but the light keeps flashing, weird thing is that 4wd seems to engaged because engine works harder and feel of the road changes

Sometimes when I'm not in 4wd all the way, I will accelerate harder than normal quickly and then touch the brakes and it'll quit flashing.
