Multi Mode 4WD help

Need some help here, I know my truck from back to front and top to bottom with all the work I’ve done but I’ve never had to touch the 4wd system. It’s a 2000 Limited w/ the multi mode transfer case. The last 2 times I’ve used it, when a push the AWD button the lights on the dash just flash, If I disengage the button, the lights stop flashing for a few seconds them start to flash again. The weird part is when it’s doing this, if I turn moderately sharp the front binds like it in got lockers on. Nothing changes if I turn the rig off, reverse it, or put it in neutral. When I put it in 4H locked it’s the same, for a bit then it will all lock in. The 1st time it did it, I went into a parking lot at the trail head and turned a tight circle which locked it in. Today I shut off the truck to air down and when I turned it back on it was locked in. Both times the lever was in 4HL. Once it’s all locked in, I can go in and out of all modes with no issue and when I have it in AWD the tight turning does not bind up anything. Anyone have this issue before? If so what was the fix?

Is your actuator engaging and disengaging fully every time you hit the button. Your actuator is sounding like its going to hit and miss on you. I have one that does this. 1997 limited. I have to shut the rig down for it to pull out of 4wd hi. Until i replace the actuator.

Dumb question, is there an actuator for the transfer case and the front diff? can they be taken out an cleaned? Like I said, this is all new to me.

When you press the button do you hear an audible *clack*?

Mine gets a little cranky if I haven't exercised it regularly.
