4wd Issues

I know this may be a common question, but Ive googled and couldn't find anything. I have a 97 limited and my 4wd doesn't always engage. I usually have to reset the computer and take my 4x4 fuse out and then put everything back together and it sometimes works afterwards. So my questions is, has anyone had any experience with this situation because id like to engage and disengage as a like.
let me know,
Chris

Are you just parked when you're trying to engage into 4wd? Rolling slowly should help it engage more quickly.

Thats all I got. Hopefully someone else will chime in if that isn't the case.

Yeah, I do both. I do it in park and while slowly moving. It just isn't consistent. Maybe its a wiring issue? When it works it works great, its just sometimes it wont even go in.

Someone on the forum told me that you need to be rolling slowly on a straight stretch, no brakes, no gas, no turning. I tried to engage and disengage in this manner and it works perfectly everytime. That way the actuator motor is not competing with the engine or any other accessories. Try it and let me know how it works.

Mine seems to engage perfectly in neutral sitting still. I've never had to do the rolling slowly trick, although I did on my Jeep, so I know how that goes. Interesting to hear that others have to do that.
