4WD Light???

Ok i had converted my 95 4runner from 2wd to 4wd and when i engage 4wd the indicator on the dash doesn't light up (the diff is non-ADD) i replaced the complete wire harness and ecu. i guess what i was wondering is does the ADD vacuum solenoid switch the 4wd light on and off?

So, yours used to be a two wheel drive T4R and you installed a front diff, tranny, transfercase and driveshaft and made it into a 4x4? Or you shifted it into 4x4 and the light doesn't come on? I'm confused. :-|

Yes i i even installed all new ones for all the lights because i really didnt feel like taking off the dash again. :nono:

Yes i converted it to 4x4 (drive train swap) in thinking its the ADD vacuum valve but i read i could just connect the two plugs together and it will come on. i gotta try it first.

You rock! That's bad a$$ that you converted it to 4x4! You must really love that truck to go to all that trouble and expense.

I don't have an answer about the light but think your project is pretty cool.

Yes it does. When I got mine the 4w was working. Come to find out when the PO replaced the motor they had crossed up the vacuum lines so it wasn't getting the vacuum to the correct VSV to engage the ADD valve on the axle to make the light come on. Even when you put it in 4wd you should feel the gearing change through the transfer case as it would be in a lower gear. And if you have the manual hubs it should be in 4WD regardless the light I would think. Maybe someone else can chime in to verify or correct me on this.

The switch that turns on the 4WD light on ADD equipped trucks is located on the ADD assembly on the front axle.

If the original IFS was the ADD type, yes. If it was non-ADD, no.
