4WD lights flashing - fixed (I hope)

Did a lot of searching as I was a little stressed about the potential cost to fix this problem, and didn't find a ton of info.

So, started up this morning and immediately both my 4wd green light and center lock light started flashing. The car was in 2HI, and I hadn't been in 4HI/4LO for at least a week. I tried turning the car on/off, and moving the knob between all drive modes, and nothing worked. It stayed in 2HI.

I got home today, and pulled the cover that's under the glove box which gives access to the 4WD ECU. Unplugged it and let it sit for 30 seconds, plugged it back in, and bam! Back to working order.

I have a few idea of what happened, but would like to hear other thoughts. I cycled the system between all modes about 30 times just to make sure it's all in working order.

Hoping this fixed the problem. Maybe it'll be useful to someone down the road too.

Anyone have an explanation of what happened?

When I first started up my truck they were flashing, I simply put it in neutral and it went away. That seemed to work for me.

Yeah, I tried that too. I pretty much spent 15 minutes trying every possible thing, both while parked, in N, and while driving (coasting).
